This role sits in the S&P Global Energy Product Management organization within the Platts business line. The role works closely with product management and product management operations teams to ensure delivery of high-performing products that meet customer needs and align with business strategy. As an Apprentice, you will play an important role in supporting product workflows and day-to-day operations, gather insights on KPIs and customer feedback, and help to maintain the product backlog across our digital, cross-commodity portfolios.

The solutions for Platts include commodity pricing, news, and forward curves over a variety of customer-facing digital and machine delivery mechanisms. The Product Management Apprentice is crucial to overseeing efficient operation of products, their features, and delivery to clients through effective management of product workflows and operational processes.

This position is an excellent steppingstone to build a foundational understanding of the function of Product Management and the role we play in the development and delivery of high-value customer-facing solutions that solve customer problems. You will help to ensure operational efficiency for some of the highest earning products across commodity markets like oil, gas, power, LNG, and energy transition. Working within the Product organization provides opportunity to engage with and gain exposure to all areas of the business, liaising daily with global cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Product team with day-to-day operations, product maintenance, packaging, distribution, and compiling product metrics to support the product roadmap.
- Participate in various stages of the product development lifecycle, including research, discovery, requirements gathering, and project sizing.
- Support and document Product Management workflows, centralizing key product information, decisions, and business rules.
- Use product management tools to organize and maintain the product development backlog for customer-facing platforms.
- Support platform releases by raising and monitoring defects, updating release notes, and communicating product enhancements.
- Build strong working relationships with development teams and stakeholders to maximize productivity.
- Identify and suggest automation and process improvements in product workflows.
- This is a 12 month long apprenticeship position
What We’re Looking For
- Recent graduates with a background in business, finance, or technology.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts (24x5, including nights) as per business requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Quick learner with an aptitude for product management, product operations, and company processes.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum, project management tools, and backlog management is a plus.
- Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets for actionable insights.
