We're a small data team at an insurance company that moves like a startup. We're looking for someone who loves building with AI, not as a side skill, but as the main event.
Can you build something, with AI, by Friday that changes how a team works on Monday?
THE ROLE
Prototype and ship AI-powered tools that change how our business operates. Internal copilots, intelligent automation, smarter analytics interfaces. You’ll work closely with our Analytics Engineering Lead and report to the Head of Data Science. Vontributing to both what we build today and how we think about AI over the longer term.
This isn’t a research role. It’s not a prompt engineering role. It’s an engineering role where AI is the primary instrument.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Someone who builds things with AI that real people use. You move from idea to working prototype quickly and have the judgment to know when to push to production versus when to start over. You follow the AI space closely, have opinions about where it’s heading, and can explain those opinions to people who aren’t engineers.
The above cited duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to the job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that an incumbent may be expected or asked to perform.
BACKGROUND
- 5+ years across software engineering, data science, AI development, or some combination. Real LLM application experience, not just experimentation.
- Comfortable owning your own scope in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Insurance or financial services experience is a plus, not a requirement.
WHY THIS ROLE
Most companies are still figuring out what AI means for their business. We're actively building it. You'll have real latitude, a direct line to leadership, and a counterpart who is equally serious about building a modern data function.
If you want your instincts about AI to actually shape what gets built, not just what you personally ship, let’s talk!
Salary Range
$130,000 – $180,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
