About the role

Stonewood Group is a New Zealand investment and operating group with commercial property, hotel and investment interests. We are creating an Applied AI Analyst role to find and remove the repetitive work across the business, so our people can spend their time on property, tenants, investment and decisions rather than re-keying, chasing and formatting.

You will start by sitting with colleagues in every part of the group and documenting how their work is actually done, not how the process says it is done. Those tasks will be named, timed and ranked into a prioritised automation backlog. From there, you will design, build and hand over the automations, agents and tools that give that time back, working across systems such as Re-Leased, Xero, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Outlook. Success is measured in hours returned to the business and in automation that keeps working when nobody is watching it.

What you will do

  • Interview and observe colleagues to build and maintain a central workflow map of every role, system and hand-off in the group
  • Quantify and rank opportunities by hours released, error risk and ease of delivery
  • Build, pilot and document automations, using scripts (Python or similar) where an off-the-shelf tool will not do the job
  • Design, test and maintain AI agents, skills and prompts across Claude and ChatGPT, with clear rules and guardrails
  • Train and support colleagues on approved AI tools and on every automation you deliver
  • Extract and reconcile data from leases, invoices and accounting records, and build Excel models, dashboards and reporting for the property and finance teams
  • Report monthly on the hours you have returned to the business, with the method shown

About you

  • A completed tertiary degree in commerce, finance, property, data science, computer science, engineering or a related field
  • Advanced, demonstrable use of Claude and ChatGPT, well beyond casual use. You will be asked to show us what you have built and explain how it works
  • Strong interpersonal skills: you can sit with a colleague, ask how their job really works, and leave them glad you did
  • A structured mind that can break a messy process into steps, inputs, outputs and hand-offs, and write it down clearly
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence across Microsoft 365
  • Clear, concise written English and a high standard of document presentation
  • Rigour: you check your work against source, and you say plainly when you are not certain
  • Discretion with confidential commercial, tenant, employee and financial information
  • The right to work in New Zealand for the full term of the role

Nice to have

  • Scripting or light development experience (Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power Automate or similar)
  • Exposure to AI agents, APIs, MCP connectors or retrieval-based tooling
  • Experience with process mapping, business analysis or continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with Xero, Re-Leased or other accounting, property management or ERP systems
  • An interest in property, investment or capital markets

Why Stonewood Group

This is a foundation role, deliberately positioned with direct exposure to the group's senior leadership and its commercial property, hotel and investment activity. As your capability is demonstrated, there is scope to take on commercial analysis, investment support and ownership of the group's AI and systems roadmap.

To apply

Send your CV and a short cover note. Tell us about one thing you have built with AI and what it does. Applications are screened against the requirements above, and shortlisted candidates will be asked to demonstrate their work.
