We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst I.
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work.

We’re looking for an Application Systems Analyst who loves turning data into insights and building solutions that make a real impact for North Carolina's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)

What You’ll Do:
• Drive data visualization and reporting using Power BI (dashboards, models, refresh pipelines, gateways).
• Support and enhance E Pay solutions and integrate payment workflows into DEQ systems.
• Maintain and develop applications across M365, custom HTML/JavaScript, and other supported platforms.
• Troubleshoot issues, support users, and help modernize legacy systems into a more secure, cloud ready environment.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, project teams, and business partners to deliver end to end technical solutions.

What You Bring:
• Knowledge and experience with Power BI.
• Familiarity with enterprise reporting platforms; some exposure to Business Objects is helpful but not required.
• Background supporting e payment systems or transaction based applications.
• Skills in SQL, system integrations, or web application support are a plus.
• Strong communication, curiosity, and a desire to help modernize state government technology.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

• Experience in problem identification and integration of technical skills to address and solve issues which includes client needs assessments, evaluating hardware and software requirements. 

• Systems analysis, design, modeling, configuration, and programming experience within platforms like M365, Service Now, and Power Platform. 

• Demonstrated excellent communication, analytical and organization skills with the ability to translate business and technical ideas and issues into clear and concise language.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution,

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development,

OR

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
