Description of Work

Salary Range: $70,528- $105,793
The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer's sole discretion.

We currently have an opening for a Public Web Content Accessibility Analyst
The Early Career Associate Program is ideal for recent graduates, early-career professionals, or those looking to transition to a new career seeking broad exposure to state IT operations.
The Early Career Associate Program is a two-year on-the-job training (OJT) program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience. After gaining exposure to the role through the development process, participants will have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role based on mutual fit and career goals.
The NC Department of Information Technology Transportation Division is seeking a Public Web Content Accessibility Analyst to help ensure our public facing digital content is usable, accessible, and compliant with federal and state accessibility requirements. In this role at NCDIT, you will support the NCDOT Communications Office by reviewing websites, dashboards, documents, and digital materials to make sure they meet accessibility standards for all North Carolinians. You will work closely with NCDOT Communications and the NCDIT Transportation teams to identify issues, guide and implement remediations, and strengthen accessibility across multiple platforms.
Duties include, but are not limited, to:
• Conduct manual accessibility testing using assistive technologies and keyboard only navigation
• Review automated accessibility scan results and verify issues across NCDOT web content
• Remediate accessibility barriers in Drupal Digital Commons pages, SharePoint content, Power BI dashboards, PDFs, and Microsoft Office documents
• Provide clear guidance to content editors on improving accessibility in both web and document workflows
• Maintain automated scanning coverage and track remediation activities
• Collaborate with NCDIT Transportation Web Systems to resolve technical accessibility problems
• Support NCDOT Communications staff with best practices for accessible content creation
• Assist with accessibility improvements during website updates, redesigns, or new digital content initiatives

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA Title II, and Section 508 criteria, with demonstrable experience evaluating public‑facing digital content for accessibility compliance

• Ability to perform hands‑on accessibility testing using assistive technologies (screen readers, keyboard‑only navigation) and to interpret automated scan results

• Ability to identify and remediating accessibility issues in websites, PDFs, Microsoft Office files, and data dashboards

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution,

OR

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development,

OR

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
