POSITION SUMMARY

The Applications Scientist serves as the scientific bridge between Sales & Marketing, Customer Support, and Product Development by transforming scientific literature, published applications, and customer insights into practical technical resources that make it easier for researchers to discover, evaluate, and successfully use Advanced BioMatrix products.

The Applications Scientist will develop and maintain the company's scientific knowledge base through the Advanced BioMatrix website, ensuring it remains the primary destination for customers to discover products, applications, protocols, publications, and technical resources. This individual will play a key role in ensuring customers can easily discover, understand, and successfully utilize Advanced BioMatrix products across a broad range of life science applications.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining scientific knowledge, technical communication, customer interaction, and strategic thinking to improve the customer experience and drive commercial success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scientific Applications & Knowledge Management

  • Continuously identify, review, and analyze scientific literature involving Advanced BioMatrix products, related technologies, and emerging life science applications.
  • Design and maintain the scientific knowledge architecture of the Advanced BioMatrix website by organizing scientific resources across products, applications, and resource types, enabling customers to quickly discover relevant scientific information.
  • Curate and translate scientific literature, publications, and other scientific resources into practical knowledge that supports customers and internal teams.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by synthesizing insights from scientific literature, customer interactions, technical support inquiries, and competitive developments to identify unmet needs, improve the customer experience, and recommend new products and application opportunities.

Technical Content & Scientific Communication

  • Produce scientifically accurate technical communications that support customer success and product adoption.
  • Develop and maintain customer-facing scientific resources, including application notes, technical notes, protocols, Technical Data Sheets, DFUs, FAQs, website content, videos, product announcements, and other educational materials.
  • Ensure scientific communications are accurate, consistent, and aligned across the website, marketing materials, technical documentation, and customer support resources.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear, practical, and commercially effective manner.

Customer & Commercial Support

  • Provide technical support to customers using Advanced BioMatrix products.
  • Assist customers with product selection, experimental design, protocol recommendations, and troubleshooting.
  • Partner with Sales & Marketing to improve the customer buying experience through scientific guidance, technical resources, and application support.
  • Capture and analyze customer technical support cases, scientific inquiries, and resolutions to identify trends, develop customer-facing resources, and recommend product improvements and new application opportunities.

Scientific Strategy & Business Development

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive developments to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Recommend new products, application areas, product improvements, and strategic initiatives aligned with customer and market needs.
  • Contribute scientific expertise to product launches, market positioning, and scientific messaging to support commercial success.
  • Serve as the company's internal scientific resource and advisor to Sales & Marketing, Customer Support, Product Development, Operations, and company leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Tissue Engineering, or a related life science discipline.
  • Laboratory experience involving mammalian cell culture, extracellular matrix biology, biomaterials, or related life science research.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in life science research, scientific applications, technical support, scientific communications, product development, or a related role; experience with extracellular matrix biology, collagen, hydrogels, biomaterials, tissue engineering, or regenerative medicine is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, synthesize, and communicate complex scientific information.
  • Excellent written and verbal scientific communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience supporting research customers in academia or industry.
  • Experience writing scientific publications, application notes, technical documentation, or educational content.
  • Familiarity with stem cells, organoids, 3D cell culture, or bioprinting technologies.

SUCCESS IN THE ROLE

During the first year, the successful candidate will:

  • Build a comprehensive scientific applications library supporting Advanced BioMatrix's product portfolio.
  • Develop high-quality technical content that improves customer success and enhances the company's scientific presence.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations for new product, application, and market opportunities by synthesizing insights from scientific literature, customer interactions, and competitive developments.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to: Managing Director

Collaborates with: Sales & Marketing, Customer Support, Product Development, Operations, and Company Leadership.

WHAT WE OFFER

The base salary range for this position is $87,000-$112,000.00
