Works with consultants and management teams in the firm to determine which applications and software are most appropriate for specific projects. Plans for the purchase or development of solutions.
Uses advanced project management skills to prioritize and direct the assignment of work and projects to realize firm goals for the group.
Leads issue resolution efforts when supported software is not performing as expected, which may require external vendor support.
Conducts evaluations of software and its installations to determine if it meets firm needs and standards and can be integrated into the systems successfully.
Develops staff through mentoring, formal training, and on the job development opportunities.
Manages the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of Microsoft Office products, the firm's Document Management System, and other legal specific applications.
Advises management on all areas related to advancements in technology that will benefit the firm and advises on any research findings that will help the firm position itself strategically in the realm of technological advancements.
Ensures the team is trained and prepared to administer and support solutions.
Prepares the area's annual budget.
Participates in the firm's Disaster Recovery activities.
May be required to travel with minimal notice.
Uses management skills to motivate and direct assigned staff, including preparing and conducting performance evaluations.
Works, as required, at different shifts outside of stated regular office hours.
Attends training sessions concerning skill development; travels to these sessions as required.
Provides management with periodic status updates and project reports.
May be required to periodically provide after-hours support to customers throughout the firm.
Communicates courteously and professionally by phone and in person, using good communication skills.
Ensures that employees follow adequate security guidelines and policies while carrying out all duties.
Operates office equipment such as phones, calculators and photocopy machines.
Maintains a neat and orderly workplace.
Skills Required
- Two to three years experience managing technical professionals
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred statement)
- Three to five years supervisory experience (preferred statement)
- Advanced technical expertise in document management, systems administration, database administration, and operating system functionality
- High level knowledge of network operations, applications administration/management, and PC hardware/software
- Proven skills maintaining computer system network and application or hardware platforms in a system administration/management capacity
- Understanding of end user needs to increase user efficiency
