This role represents a critical leadership position in establishing ASML’s Applications Engineering capability for a strategic advanced-node customer in the United States. You will build and scale a high-performing Applications organization to support a development line in Texas and a future high-volume manufacturing (HVM) site.
This is a high-impact opportunity to lead the startup, ramp, and maturation of Applications Engineering support from early wafer introduction through pilot-line execution and ramp to volume. You will shape ASML’s local Applications organization, build deep customer partnerships, and ensure operational readiness aligned with global standards.
The Applications team supports node transfer and ramp execution across ASML scanner and metrology platforms, working closely with install, equipment, and customer teams to own on-product performance. The objective is to meet customer timelines while achieving yield and output performance equal to or better than the mother fab.
This role will scale a greenfield Applications organization from an initial team of ~10 engineers to a multi-disciplinary HVM support organization as the install base grows.
You will report to the Head of US CS Applications, participate in the Extended Staff of US Applications, and serve as a key interface between the local site, global stakeholders, and the customer.
Role and responsibilitiesThis role requires full ownership of customer outcomes, strong technical and operational leadership, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic environment. You are accountable for both business operations and people leadership of the local Applications organization.
You will:
Lead the local Applications organization through NPI, ramp-to-volume, and sustaining operations
Define and evolve the organizational structure, including hiring plans, role segmentation, and capability development roadmap
Own performance management, talent development, and succession planning for the team
Translate on-product Applications strategy into executable priorities aligned with customer commitments
Define and deploy the long-term HVM Applications support model
Establish structured operating rhythms and business reviews with internal teams and the customer
Drive alignment between local execution and global strategy, with authority to prioritize resources, escalate risks, and influence roadmap decisions
Act as the senior Applications representative to the customer, shaping joint priorities and strengthening long-term strategic partnership
Represent the Voice of the Customer within ASML and influence cross-functional stakeholders
Improve ways of working, including escalation pathways, execution discipline, and solution deployment
Apply lithography, metrology, and manufacturing expertise to drive customer performance outcomes
Identify business opportunities and position ASML solutions to support customer success and growth
Contribute to US and global Applications Engineering initiatives
Execution Phases:
Initial phase (pre-install / mother fab support): Build technical capability, develop process expertise, and learn customer configurations and operating models
Pilot-line phase: Drive tool qualification, wafer introduction, NPI execution, and pilot-line performance
Ramp-to-volume: Ensure operational readiness, yield performance, and sustainable Applications support model
Success in this role is measured by:
On-time wafer introduction and tool qualification
Yield and availability performance vs. mother fab benchmarks
Ramp-to-volume readiness and execution
Customer satisfaction and operational alignment
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
Minimum 12 years of experience in IC manufacturing, lithography, metrology, or process technology
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in technical, customer-facing environments
Proven experience in NPI, ramp, HVM, or advanced manufacturing operations
Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing technical teams
Strong program or operations management experience in cross-functional environments
Experience working with global stakeholders and complex customer structures
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across matrixed organizations
Strategic decision-making in complex, high-ambiguity environments
Ability to translate strategy into structured execution plans
Executive-level communication and stakeholder management
Customer-centric mindset with strong business acumen
Proven ability to build trust and long-term partnerships
Data-driven problem-solving and performance management
Continuous improvement and operational excellence mindset
