What You’ll Do

The Applications Engineering Intern will be responsible for collaborating with Engineering and Operations on cost savings initiatives, process efficiency improvements, and technology advancement. They will also be involved in the controlled creation and release of production documentation to ensure an adept transfer of knowledge.

• Assist Operations in planning of new or modified production processes.

• Design or improve equipment and machines to ensure efficiency and reliability.

• Testing and evaluating production process to achieve stable result.

• Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing.

• Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production.

• Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes.

• Estimating production costs.

What You’ll Need

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.

• Rising Junior or Senior.

• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills

• Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions to all levels of the team.

• Strong Plastics Background (primarily extrusion), desired but not necessary.

• Knowledge of 6 Sigma and Lean methodologies, desired but not necessary.

• Adept at CAD programs such as Solidworks or Auto CAD.

• Basic knowledge of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.

• Ability to work independently and challenge the "status quo".

• Extremely adept in Microsoft Office Programs.

Work Hours/Length of Program ·

• The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August.

• Temporary Full Time, targeting 40 hours per week.

• Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business.

• This is a paid internship.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position is based in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and involves working in a manufacturing environment. The environment may involve exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, or other factors. Employees are required to wear safety goggles and safety shoes.

• Successful completion of a drug screening and a physical exam are required for this role.

• This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.

• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.

• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

• May involve moving or lifting items under 40 pounds.
