Applications Engineer

Are you passionate about technology and enjoy working directly with customers? As an Applications Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our Sales and Applications teams by showcasing our advanced standalone and specialized machines. You'll lead product demonstrations, conduct time studies, and provide expert post-sales support to ensure our customers achieve success with our solutions.

Applications Engineer Responsibilities

• Perform standard and custom demos on punch and combination machines with a high degree of customer satisfaction.

• Use TRUMPF proprietary and other software to create time studies and sample parts to customer requirements.

• Provide customer technical support via phone and email.

• Continuously increase knowledge by participating in training and testing functions of the machines and automation.

• Develop new demo parts and redesign parts for customers as required.

• Exhibit a complete understanding of the benefits of specific machine features and an ability to discuss the unique value of each.

• Determine the proper selection of standard and special punch tools and develop laser tech tables for specialty applications.

• Host Sales Rep training seminars as required.

• Provide feedback on product development / improvement ideas for existing or new products.

• Ensure assigned machines are clean, fully functional and ready for demonstrations every day.

• Travel estimate is 25% as average, with focus in USA, Mexico and Canada

Experience/Education

Experience in the sheet metal industry desired, preferably on TRUMPF products. Experience with CAD and programming desired. Excellent communication and networking skills a must, as well as the ability to work independently. Basic understanding of project management and ability to train colleagues a plus. Ability to regularly lift 40 lbs. and willing to operate forklifts.

Minimum 2-year technical school degree, 4 year degree preferred or suitable equivalent of education and work experience.
