Job Description

As the Applications Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and validating applications and machines that redefine industry standards. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll translate customer needs into innovative technical solutions that contribute to the differentiation and competitiveness of TOMRA Food's products and services. 

This role will be initially focused on our Belt Sorting products but will expand to other product lines as required.  

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Analysis: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer requirements and pain points. 
  • Translate customer needs into technical specifications and requirements for software applications and hardware improvements. 

Application Development: 

  • Design and develop software and system applications that align with our strategic goals. 
  • Work with the Software and AI team to develop AI models, including data labelling and model testing and refinement.
  • Implement solutions that enhance the user experience and contribute to the overall value proposition.

Integration with Business Processes: 

  • Ensure seamless integration of applications with existing business processes and systems.
  • Identify automation opportunities and drive process improvements in collaboration with internal teams.

Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, marketing, R&D, and customer support escalations. 
  • Provide technical support and expertise to enhance overall value proposition. 
  • Flexibly collaborate within teams and remotely to achieve shared objectives.

Health & Safety:

  • Champion a "Safety First" culture across TOMRA, our customers, and the industry.

Qualifications

About You:

  • Relevant Tertiary Degree (Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Science or Similar) or a Diploma/Certificate in a Technical or Engineering field with extensive relevant industry experience.  
  • Experience in product management, project management or product development. 
  • Experience in the food industry or sensor technology sectors would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in testing and validation of software and hardware solutions. 
  • Knowledge of AI modelling is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. 
  • Technical expertise in mechanical, electrical/electronics, software, networking and controls.
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders. 
  • Exposure to project management methodologies 
  • Basic to advanced analytical skills for producing information mainly from business systems.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, dedicated, flexible and able to work autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35%.
