Job Description

Job purpose:

The applications engineer will support customers with technical issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with sales, operations, quality, product management, and technology teams. They will act as the local expert in product usage, focusing on packaging, shelf life testing, customer applications, and quality issues, as well as assisting with automation and testing equipment processes.

Main accountabilities and tasks

  • Provides technical advice to the sales force to resolve product or service requests regarding engineering or technical issues.
  • Provides technical training to clients/colleagues and communicates customer feedback into future product developments
  • Responds quickly to questions and inquiries from the customer regarding technical problems and issues that arise and provides related technical support or assistance
  • Assesses potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs
  • Maintains local database or file system of technical projects, requests, and lab work per the medmix guidelines on data retention, allowing for preservation of lab test data and customer product testing.
  • Assists operations with automation equipment for assembly and facilitate with vendors the repairs and service.
  • Manages test equipment, testing procedures, and organization of the lab space as a customer presentable facility.
  • Co-responsible for quality response to customers, ensuring technically sound reporting from sales to operations, and operations to the customer.

Qualifications

Work experience: 5-7 years of experience in a related engineering position

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Other:

  • Ability to interpret customer requirements
  • Analytical capability as required in reviewing, assessing and interpreting customer requirements and developing responsive design specifications and parameters
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, as required in working effectively with customer personnel to interpret their requirements, develop new business, and resolve problems and issues that arise
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and tolerances
  • Safety focused mindset, with situational awareness and ability to anticipate safety issues and provide recommendations to colleagues, customers, vendors, and visitors.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to navigate laboratory equipment, design experiments, prove theories, and report findings.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus

Physical requirements:

To effectively perform the essential duties of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to see, hear, speak, and use their hands and fingers to operate computer hardware and peripherals. Regular attendance in an office and lab setting is required, with remote or hybrid work arrangements only permissible if explicitly agreed upon in writing by both management and Human Resources.

Environmental, Health & Safety requirements (EHS):

  • Complies with quality and EHS policies
  • Performs its functions following and understanding workplace hazards
  • Complies with environmental and safety rules, policies, work instructions, manuals, etc.
  • Participates in activities to safeguard the environment

Travel requirement:

This position will require business travel up to 20%, including occasional international travel.
