Lanco is excited to announce that we have an internal opportunity for an Applications Engineer. The Applications Engineer is accountable for the generation of the system concept, pricing, and technical description of the process. The Applications Engineer supports the Sales Account Manager throughout the quoting process. Up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required.
Applications Engineer Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provided technical support to the sales staff
- Establish a clear understanding of all contract documents (customer technical specification, user requirement specification, component, and assembly prints etc.)
- Establish a technical solution that meets the specified SOW
- Identify, communicate, and document risks
- Assure concepts maintain technical correctness
- Provide engineering with all available information available to start a job
- Provide updates to sales & management for all concepts in process
- Maintain CRM tasks
- Document time spent on specific projects
- Assist the sales staff with customer visits and presentations
- Assist the sales staff with online meetings and presentations
- Define project assumptions in the appropriate Lanco documents
- Define exceptions to the customer documents in appropriate Lanco documents
- Schedule technical and financial project reviews
- Implement the use of Lanco standards in the concept process and costings
- Conduct analysis of manual, automatic and robotic operations using industry accepted methods
- Identify high cost and/or long lead items and work with vendors to receive quotations
- Assure that Project Binders are completed in a timely manner
- Provide support as needed to the Operations group as projects move through the design/build processes
- Support other Lanco division’s Applications and Sales departments as required
- Other responsibilities as assigned by manager and/or supervisor
- Assist in updating the costing database
- Ensure ISO 9000 procedures are being followed
Applications Engineer Qualifications:
- Associate Degree (minimum), B.S. in an engineering discipline preferred
- Practical experience and knowledge of machine design
- Familiarity with assembly automation and related process
- Ability to work with 2D & 3D CAD systems (Solid Works), word processing, and spreadsheet programs
- Travel is required
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 or more pounds
- Occasional reaching, stretching, and pulling overhead
- Occasional kneeling, bending, or crouching
