We're searching for applications engineer who have the passion and excitement to grow, innovative, take an active role in product definition, execute the characterization until ramp, and provide post ramp application support to customers.
This role is responsible for application support for high speed amplifiers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Answer customer questions and supporting design-in activities for released products. This includes:
  • Forum and email questions from customers
  • Schematic and Layout Review of customer application
  • Debug of customer problems by re-creating issues in our evaluation boards and/or customer boards
  • On-site support for customer board as required
  • Design EVM and internal evaluation boards to support correlation and evaluation activities of new products
  • Create user guides, test procedures and proper release of EVM boards for customer consumption
  • Participate in datasheet review to ensure completeness of datasheet being developed by the Systems Engineer
  • Perform Bench Characterization for High Speed Amplifiers devices, including bench automation, hardware design and develop test techniques
  • Participate in new silicon testing from an application perspective to ensure robustness of the product (i.e. destructive testing)
  • Work with systems engineer to provide support to early design in activities for new products
  • Create custom reference designs targeting relevant applications to be used as customer implementation ideas
  • Write application notes that explain different use cases, implementation and/or flexibility of our products
Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Solid hardware and software debugging skills
  • Strong technical background, with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation
  • Strong technical foundation in power conversion architectures and topologies
  • Hands-on experience with DC-DC converter design, including power switch selection, loss calculation, magnetics selection, capacitor selection, circuit schematic development, and PCB design
  • Hands-on PCB schematic capture and layout collaboration using tools such as Altium
  • Experience using simulation tools such as SIMPLIS for power design and control loop analysis
  • Working knowledge of EMI and thermal management considerations in power design
  • Experience selecting digital mixed-signal controllers, defining pin assignments, and supporting firmware development in embedded C
  • Experience with control loop and PID tuning in simulation and lab validation using frequency response analyzers
  • Knowledge in designing analog signal chains for voltage and current sensing
  • Knowledge of and debugging skills in communication protocols such as PMBus, I2C, and UART
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in email, meetings, and presentations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfort working across functions and driving issues to closure
