Position Title:  Applications Engineer – Project Business

Reports To:      Project & Application Engineering Manager

Position Summary:

This role requires working knowledge of KSB products and processes, industry standards, and the ability to navigate complex project specifications. The ability to utilize this knowledge to complete and manage quotations for pumps, and auxiliary equipment focusing on “Project Business” within the Energy and Petrochemical & Chemical (PCC) market segments. Employee needs to develop close relationships with the KSB Sales Personnel, local KSB Supply Chain and Operations personnel, KSB Factories, and local US suppliers of auxiliary equipment.

Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Generate and manage multiple Project Business quotations at a fast pace. Candidate should be able to quote direct jobs, and pass-through support to our KSB sister companies.
  • Primary business focuses on Power Generation, Steel Mills, Paper Mills, and various manufacturing facilities.
  • Technical responses to local KSB personnel, KSB factories, sub-suppliers, and customers.
  • Responsible for using KSBs tools in providing pump technical information such as datasheets, speed curves, drawings, etc.
  • Ability to interact with vendors for buyouts.
  • Ability to understand/translate drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to compile costing for all equipment and project needs and work with KSB Sales Personnel to create customer quotations.
  • Stay abreast of company offerings (products and services), Tools and Systems.
  • Support AE Manager with routine reporting on key performance metrics.
  • Departmental filing and records management. 
  • Other Application Engineering responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Computer skills –Be familiar with and effectively use, within the context of the role: All applicable MS Office applications, KSB Selection tools and AutoCAD

  • Social Perceptiveness – Being aware of others’ reactions and interpretation; ability to convey appropriate responses.  Provide effective interface with internal and external partners.
  • Written Expression – The ability to communicate and convey information and ideas so others understand.
  • Deductive Reasoning – The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible/useful answers.
  • Intuitive – Identify potential problems and address before they become issues.  Able to be creative in identifying solutions to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Technical Aptitude (advanced level) – applicable to requirements shown in Position Skills Matrix
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and working experience working with mechanical equipment or auxiliary equipment.

Education / Experience:

B.S. degree in Engineering with at least two years of experience of centrifugal pump engineering and application. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
