What does the Customer Applications Engineering team do?
Silicon Labs applications engineers are utilizing their domain specific expertise to provide engineering technical collateral like documentation, code examples, and customer technical support related to our IoT products, including multi-protocol wireless SoC’s, and ARM Cortex-based MCU’s.
Silicon Labs wireless portfolio includes many different transceivers and wireless MCUs for applications like Bluetooth, Zigbee/Thread, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and proprietary wireless radios. Our devices simplify design effort and accelerate time to market for a wide range of communications applications.
The Customer Applications Engineering team at Silicon Labs is a critical link between our products and the end customer’s success. Our Customers are other engineers working on new and innovative wireless products. Our primary function is to enable and support them in their rapid prototyping and development efforts for their systems using our products. We are application and product experts who provide our customers with technical guidance and contribute to the knowledge base and technical documentation for the products.

What You Will Do
In this role you will be part of the Customer Applications Proprietary and Hardware team with the primarily focusing on hardware related matters. Primary activities include providing advanced technical product support to high tier customers, creating technical collateral and documentation and working with internal teams on improving software quality and developer experience via early feedback from the customer perspective. A wide range of technical activities is involved in this role:
Providing technical support in complex RF issues, which involves analyzing the system (analog front-end, digital signal processing blocks, networking layers), reproducing issues, and narrowing down to system parameters or embedded software component via gathering further evidence and designing additional tests. The activities often involve working on actual Customer hardware, e.g. smart devices of industrial, commercial, home or life market segments.  
Developing proof of concept designs and prototypes to showcase the competitive advantage of our products in different application fields. Developing tools to optimize and streamline repetitive tasks, e.g. measurements, reports.
Helping to improve wireless software product quality and developer experience by providing technical feedback to internal development teams via requirements review, test plan review, pre-release technical evaluation, bug reporting, etc.
Creating and reviewing technical collaterals, including knowledge base articles, quick start guides, application notes, and code examples
Education and Skills for Success

  • BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Understanding RF measurements and wireless communication systems (radio transceivers, modulations, signal processing) as well as the OSI model (protocols)
  • Embedded C programming skills: ability to troubleshoot and debug code, devices and systems, knowledge of related programming tools (IDEs, programmers and debuggers)
  • Experience in explaining technical topics to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Bonus Skills and Experience

  • Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave)
  • Experience with embedded or real-time operating systems
  • Experience with analog and/or digital hardware design and prototyping
  • Experience with measurement automation and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Experience with customer-facing technical interactions and working in distributed teams

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between Ft7,078,400 - Ft13,145,600. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
