Applications Engineer I

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Applications Engineer I is responsible for the design, architecture, configuration/development, and maintenance of applications, including requirements analysis, customizations, screen changes, security definition and workflow. The Applications Engineer I administers the technology and workflows associated with the software applications used across the Enterprise. The Applications Engineer I works with Business Analysts and other key business stakeholders to design, develop and configure solutions based on business requirements aligned with the standards for each support application (i.e., SalesForce, nCino, OnBase, Encompass, ServiceNow, Bankway etc.).  Participate in all stages of the application implementation life cycle, including discovery, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and post go-live support as part of an implementation and support team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Represent best practice implementation to business owner and business analyst for assigned applications. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
2. Provide guidance in how to leverage the platform as holistically as possible and where to integrate with other solutions. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
3. Host meetings, using a variety of in person and digital tools, including design thinking and other structured workshop methods to help design and tailor the assigned application solution. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
4. Analyze business needs to develop requirements, user stories and other ways of describing client needs leveraging assigned application out of the box processes as extensively as possible. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
5. Perform the detailed design of business processes and functional application design using best practices for assigned application implementations. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
6. Configure, build, and test the assigned application and assist other team members in doing so, using playbooks and application best practice where appropriate. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
7. Share implementation experience regularly with the business stakeholders helping to drive continued enhancement and expansion of the community. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
8. Participate in transitions of the application or functional components to the testers. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
9. Assist with the identification of functional and non-functional defects within the integrated assigned solution. This duty is performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
10. Participate in activities such as presenting at brown bag sessions, maintain relevance with ongoing application specific certifications and look to become a champion of assigned application collaboration internally. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
11. Collaborate and work with a team of technical resources focusing on configuration/development for assigned applications. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
12. Work with stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment to define product features, estimates and deliverables. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
13. Commonly uses agile methodology where all roles closely collaborate with one another in order to complete each unit of work, and where configuration/development is not complete until all unit testing, code reviews, QA verification, and user acceptance have passed for each unit of work. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
14. Update, manage and maintain user stories within applicable tool/resource for development activities, including adding comments, detailed instructions, and logging and estimating configuration/development activities. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
15. Document and maintain all processes and procedures for assigned applications. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
16. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.
17. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.
18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Technical degree required in such disciplines as Computer Engineering, CPA, etc., plus 3 years related experience and/or training, and 3 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

- Hold certifications in two or more of the following:

- ServiceNow Certified Administrator

- nCino Certified Administrator

- SalesForce Certified Administrator

- Encompass Certified Administrator

- ITIL V3 or V4 Foundations Certification

- OnBase Administrator

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Apex, Lightning, SOQL, Process Builder, Flow and other standard and advanced Salesforce automation tools

Strong practical knowledge of Visualforce, Flex, Salesforce configurations, Apex classes, APEX Web services, API, and AppExchange deployments

Salesforce Certified App Builder and/or Salesforce certified Platform required

Batch and real time Integration knowledge middleware solutions like Informatica, MuleSoft, or OpenDCI

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

Intermediate: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Contact Management, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing

Basic: 10-Key, Accounting, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Programming Languages

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

-Three (3) years of applicable Applications Engineer I experience with Banking applications and/or Enterprise applications such as SalesForce, nCino, OnBase, Encompass, ServiceNow, Bankway

- Strong knowledge in Loan Origination process, Core Banking Service Deposits, Lending and Digital Banking platforms.

- Proficient in Loan Origination Process, development, and administration

- Background in enterprise-level projects using Agile methodologies or proficient in a hybrid model

- Exhibit exceptional presentation skills and be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences on alternative approaches and analyze impacts
