As our Application Support Engineer, you will be a key member of our customer support and integration team. You will benefit from on-the-job training and become an expert in our range of Products and Devices in no time.
What your day will look like:
- Collaborate with Customers and Teams to maintain system accuracy ensuring a great passenger experience.
- Maintain configurations for Vix products and provide end to end support for Real Time Information Systems.
- Installation and configuration of software applications for hardware products.
- Perform system investigations and collaborate in project implementations across the different environments.
- Ensure accurate preparation, installation, and maintenance of data for all allocated systems, escalating issues as necessary.
- Attend customer site as required for fault investigations
What you can bring to the team:
- A knack for problem solving and a drive to provide excellent customer service.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to details.
- Experience of onsite IT/Software diagnostics.
- Experience with configuration of local and remote devices, ideally within Windows OS, knowledge of Linux and command line is also advantageous.
- Ability to identify continuous improvement and innovation opportunities.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is required to visit client sites.
- Basic knowledge of Cloud environments and awareness of MS SQL Server will be highly advantageous to this role. .
- Knowledge of Excel and online spreadsheets / data manipulation is required.
- Some knowledge of Rail and rail transactions is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ITSO scheme, implementation into public transport and concessionary / commercial travel is advantageous.
Requirements
The Role of Application support Engineer within the Automated Fare collection team will require management, and ongoing support for the software and configuration of an array of hardware devices, including ticket Machines, Validators for Tap on / Tap off and Automated gates.
You will be supporting continuous software deployments and upgrades of these devices on a daily basis.
You will also be supporting operations and third party teams with repairs and on-site interrogation and ongoing deployments, travel and remote working will be required from time to time.
Working in a small team, you will also be required to be on-call for evening and weekend cover on rotation to attend to critical faults and incidents, additional payments are made in addition to base salary for on-call and call out.
You should have good knowledge of Windows Operating system, be confident working in command line and ideally have prior experience interrogating devices remotely.
You should be confident to work unsupervised and independently, and knowledge of Automate fare Collection, Ticketing and Transactional processes is desirable for this role.
You will be responsible for change management and customer acceptance along with attending customer calls and meeting both on site and remotely.
use of remote file transfer / telnet and file transfer protocols advantageous.
Working under pressure and confidence communicating with customers is essential.
Knowledge of ITIL and problem /change management process and life cycle management is advantageous for this role.
