As an Application Specialist NGS you will be responsible to drive commercial growth and ensure the successful implementation and optimization of NGS workflows at customer sites. Acting as a business-critical technical expert, you will provide comprehensive support throughout the entire customer journey—from pre-sales validations to post-sales onboarding and troubleshooting—to maximize customer satisfaction and cultivate long-term technical loyalty to Roche’s sequencing portfolio, including KAPA, FMI, and future SBX solutions.
About the opportunity:
Manage end-to-end technical implementation of NGS workflows (Library Prep, Enrichment, and Quality Control) at customer sites, leading validation protocols and delivering high-level training to ensure staff self-sufficiency and rapid go-live.
Partner with the Sales team to identify technical "pain points," deliver expert pitches to Lab Directors and Principal Investigators, and provide technical specifications for complex tenders, RFPs, and commercial proposals.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex workflow failures, applying deep molecular biology and instrumentation expertise to resolve issues rapidly, prevent customer churn, and maintain technical loyalty.
Proactively monitor field performance to optimize protocols, collaborating with automation partners to enhance Roche NGS kit compatibility and increase laboratory efficiency and high-throughput capabilities.
Collaborate closely with Marketing and Business Development teams to execute campaigns, workshops, and product launches, ensuring Roche’s portfolio is effectively positioned in the market.
Work alongside Sales Leadership to provide technical insights that support pipeline management, accurate forecasting, and the development of effective pricing strategies for large-scale accounts.
Maintain regular communication and alignment with distributors (when applicable), ensuring technical consistency and high standards of service delivery across the territory.
Maintain accurate documentation of all field activities and customer feedback in CRM systems (Salesforce/Veeva) while consistently staying current with NGS publications and global clinical guidelines to uphold "expert status.
Who you are:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or related field).
3+ years of experience in genomics with a deep technical understanding of NGS workflows, applications and NGS instruments (Illumina, MGI) .
Proven track record in Oncology, Rare Disease, Microbiology, and/or Agrogenomics, with demonstrated success working alongside hospital labs, reference labs, academic institutions, or biotech companies.
Exceptional skills in technical communication, presentation, and consultation, with the ability to build scientific credibility and influence key decision-makers.
Proficiency in utilizing CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to manage technical cases, track field activities, and maintain accurate documentation.
Strong sense of urgency, accountability (ownership), and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment focused on high-quality delivery.
