LOCATION: Remote – This is a home based, virtual position that operates Monday -Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm EST. Vaya Health welcomes applications from NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, MD, and FL.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Application Product Developer designs, architects, and implements custom applications. This position works independently and collaboratively, to elicit requirements, create application specifications, and design/build custom application solutions. Interfaces with various functional teams as required to support the application development process. Identify needs or issues, develop strategies, and propose/implement technical and process solutions. Partner with MIS staff members in the creation, maintenance, and support of needed relational databases, access control systems, and web technologies necessary to deploy custom application solutions.
The Application Product Developer interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. They adapt precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to create custom business-driven solutions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Application Development:
- Responsible for translating gathered requirements into completed applications.
- Design and build reusable and reliable code that ensures quality, performance, and responsiveness of applications.
- Proactively approach business units and create the best solution to address business needs and current infrastructure.
Application Planning, Design, and Implementation:
- Responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of custom applications.
- Partner with the Business Intelligence Analyst to analyze workflows, define business requirements, and provide specifications for end user sign off prior to development.
- Partner with the Analytics Tester and other development team members to coordinate User Acceptance Testing, obtain end user satisfaction with the developed product, and implement the final solution.
Application Administration and Documentation:
- Ownership of all created applications and manage all aspects of the given application.
- Anticipate the need for upgrades and will work closely with key stakeholders to schedule the upgrade for minimal impact to the user community.
- Partner with primary backup administrators to develop appropriate backup levels and schedules to ensure critical systems and services are recoverable.
- Demonstrate day-to-day adherence with change control procedures and practices and write basic technical documentation for all created applications.
- Monitor the health and performance of supported systems and communicate potential service problems by identifying patterns occurring across separate customer reports.
- Consult with end users and other analysts to resolve technical issues and ensure end user satisfaction.
Development and Execution of Industry Security Standards:
- Responsible for the development and execution of industry security standards as they relate to application development and as supported by adopted policy.
- Follow industry standards and best practices to ensure the security of user accounts, operating systems, applications, communications, data, etc. when developing custom application solutions.
Professional Development:
- Responsible for learning and improving upon the skills necessary to stay competitive in the field and coincide with the advances in technology.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, certification programs, etc. as applicable to ensure continued skill development and technical competency.

- Expert level knowledge and experience with Microsoft Visual Studio
- High level of experience with .NET full-stack web development
- High level of experience with client and server side technologies such as, but not limited to CSS, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript
- Experience with MS SQL Server and TSQL for database usage
- Experience using Microsoft Entity Framework for database access is preferred
- Familiarity with MS SharePoint tools to compliment custom created solutions
- High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and business systems (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, VISIO and other graphics software).
- Experience working within an agile development process is preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Team Foundation Server for work item tracking and source code control is preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related business field required.
- 2 – 4 years of experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
- Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists and fingers.
- Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
- Mental concentration is required in all aspects of work.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: The person in this position must live in NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, MD, or FL for this role.
SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is exempt and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
