Role Summary

This role provides advanced level provisioning, maintenance, and support for non-production Linux/Unix environments for legacy Java-based applications. The individual will handle environment setup, deployments, releases, troubleshooting, collaboration, and ongoing environment maintenance to optimize system performance and maintain operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced level configuration services on multiple platforms in the test environment. Works on complex systems with large numbers of interfaces and users.

  • Supports complex software builds and elevations, creates directories and security groups, and recreates prior versions. Monitors software, hardware, or middleware updates, and provides support for packaging and testing complex in-house applications. Participates in inspections, elevations, and related meetings to address configuration issues.

  • Supports tools for internal clients, and monitors compliance and usage.

  • Provides support for the maintenance and administration of source code archive databases. Writes and maintains documentation, including policies and procedures, configuration templates, guides, and release notes. Reviews staff configuration management plans and tasks.

  • Reviews configuration management plans and completes complex client requests. Adds, updates, and completes IT problem management and change management records. Researches and resolves complex issues. Audits change management configuration records for future releases.

  • Works with management to implement quality assurance improvement plans and initiatives, concentrating on methodology and configuration management.

  • Creates standard and ad hoc reports for IT project teams and managers. 

  • Measures and assesses metrics, including accuracy, timeliness, errors, rescues, and availability code and documentation. Tests and evaluates IT vendor products.

  • Trains and mentors' staff and writes training materials. Resolves complex issues elevated from staff.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure the back-end functionality is reliable, secure and scalable, implementing best practices for data protection and system performance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in configuration management, software builds, release management, and system administration.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B. Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or a related field or Bachelor’s in Computer Applications (BCA)

  • Mandatory skills- Linux/Unix, troubleshooting Java based applications and environments, Apache/Tomcat

  • Expertise in source code management tools (e.g., GitHub, SVN), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible/AWX Tower), and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, KSH).

  • Nice to have skills- Understanding of JIRA, Confluence, Artifactory, Control-M. ServiceNow, Splunk.

  • Exposure to production support, cloud concepts, automation engineering, and experience creating automation playbooks and supporting environment deployment processes

  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, working with development, QA, and operations teams.

  • Familiarity with vendor product evaluation, software testing, and quality assurance methodologies.
