Summary
Support the company’s growth plans by developing key knowledge about targeted applications, assisting in the upfront work to accelerate the development and acceptance of new products.
Application and Market Knowledge: Develop and document key competitors, key products, key test methods, key committees, technical product assessment, and assist in development of test methods.
New Product Development Assistance: Help develop technology and product roadmap requirements, product launch tracking, customer acceptance tracking, applications assistance and R&D assistance as necessary.
This person will also act as technical liaison between Customers, Sales, Product Management, R&D, Applications and Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technically support Marketing & Sales in the qualification of new or existing products with customers. This may include travel to customer locations for technical support to determine the media characteristics needed for a specific application.
Grow HEF capabilities in Liquid filtration applications such as Hydraulic filtration, Fuel filtration Coalescing and other related applications in fluid power and transportation.
Assist the R&D and simulation and modeling team to support all development and other key projects for Alkegen.
Work closely with the Center of Excellence on testing and developing correlations between filter media and finished filters for different applications.
Work with Marketing and R&D to develop application specific tests to gain a better understanding of performance requirements to support new product development initiatives.
Conduct tests when necessary to meet new and/or additional product requirements for requalification.
Review customer product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, basis weight, heat resistance, and cost; establish fitness-for-use criteria.
Work with the R&D, Marketing & Sales teams to qualify new products at customer locations.
Provide internal and external training as required for products, applications and technologies to both Lydall personnel and customers.
Provide design inputs to Lydall R & D to meet customer requirements and customer trials.
Represent Lydall interest at relevant trade shows and within relevant technical trade organizations. Participate in relevant International Standards committee meetings
Communicate possible regulatory changes to the organization
Provide technical assistance to Operations and R&D in developing line extension and derivative products.
Develop and run laboratory tests that could assist with the prediction of product performance, both internal and external
Assist Quality, Marketing & Sales in complaint resolution., when necessary.
Advise customers on material performance, solutions and material compatibility for the end-use.

Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:
(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)
• BS Degree in Engineering
• Must have association with technical committees such as FILTECH, AFS, INDA
• Proven success in filter/media/element development
• Successful problem solving
• Innovative thinking and collaborative nature
• Good presentation skills
• Effective communicator with all levels of an organization.
• Proficient in experimental design, statistical analysis and MS office
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)
Advanced degree in Engineering is preferred.
Experience in Liquid Filtration
