The position
HBK is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of APPLICATION ENGINEER. As an Application Engineer, you will help our customers in selecting solutions that fit their Test and Measurement needs, provide demonstrations on our data acquisition solutions, perform customer training, present seminars, and provide technical support.
You will join our dedicated Engineering Department supporting the technical needs of our customers and partners, and our internal stakeholders in Sales, R&D, and Product Marketing. The position is can serve as a gateway to other career opportunities within HBK in functions such as sales, product management, and business development.
The position will be based in Tokyo, Japan, with possible placements in our Nagoya and Osaka offices.
Primary responsibilities
As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for a combination of pre-sale and post-sale activities in support of our sales team, our marketing team, and customers. Your daily work includes:
Pre-sale Activities
- Support sales activity such as delivering high-quality technical presentation and demonstration and webinar
Post-Sale Support
- Providing Technical Support for internal and external customers including training on product deliver
- Reporting to headquarters R&D when a problem occurs
Other
- Delivering regional seminars on theory, application, and product
- Developing and executing internal training plans to build technical competencies in the Sales and Application Engineering teams.
- Onsite seminar based on customer demand
Professional qualifications
Candidates should possess a strong technical background with an interest in working in a challenging and fast-paced technical sales company. The candidate should meet or exceed the following requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics or another technical field
- Basic commercial understanding
- Strong written, communication, and presentation skills with fluent Japanese (JLPT N1) and business-level English
Personal skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven team player, yet able to work independently
- Good IT knowledge (Windows, Microsoft® Office)
