About the Job

We’re looking for a mission-driven and highly technical Applications Engineer to help manufacturers across Southern Europe unlock the full potential of Trener’s robotics software.

This role sits at the intersection of advanced robotics, industrial automation, and Physical AI. You will serve as the technical bridge between Trener’s technology and the market, helping channel partners and customers understand, evaluate, and deploy our solutions.

Based in the Barcelona area, you will be part of our initial local team supporting customers across Southern Europe, including Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal. Reporting to the EMEA Sales Manager, you will work closely with channel partners, end customers, and internal teams from first discovery through successful deployment.

Your work will directly influence customer success, market development, and the adoption of a new generation of AI-powered robotics.

Responsibilities

· Lead the technical side of the sales cycle, including product demonstrations, customer discovery, and technical evaluation.

· Act as the primary technical advisor for channel partners, prospective customers, and key stakeholders.

· Assess customer production environments, identify automation opportunities, and recommend practical solutions.

· Define robotic automation solutions end-to-end, including technical proposals, system specifications, and ROI analyses.

· Translate complex robotics and automation concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with technical stakeholders, decision-makers, channel partners, and customers.

· Oversee the technical project development phase and support post-sales engagement to ensure customer success.

· Represent Trener at trade shows, customer meetings, partner events, and industry conferences.

· Support marketing and sales with application content, customer use cases, and case studies.

· Serve as the voice of the market internally, sharing customer and partner feedback with R&D, product, and operations teams.

· Help build scalable applications engineering processes as Trener expands across the EMEA region.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related technical field.

· 3–5 years of experience in applications engineering, field engineering, sales engineering, or another customer-facing technical role.

· Experience working in industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing technology, or a related field.

· Strong ability to assess production processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose automation solutions.

· Comfortable walking a factory floor and discussing technical requirements with operators, engineers, and decision-makers.

· Ability to develop clear technical proposals, system specifications, and business value analyses.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

· Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.

· Ability to travel across Southern Europe as needed.

· Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a fast-moving startup environment.

What Will Differentiate You

· Experience with machine tending, CNC automation, or robotic manufacturing applications.

· Experience working with channel partners, distributors, or systems integrators.

· Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Industry 4.0, or smart factory principles.

· Industry certifications in robotics, automation, or related technical areas.

· Professional proficiency in French, Italian, or Portuguese.

· Experience helping introduce new automation technologies into industrial environments.

· A passion for robotics, AI, manufacturing, and working directly with customers.

What We Offer

· A unique opportunity to help bring Physical AI and advanced robotics software into real industrial environments.

· A key role in a growing startup where your contributions have a direct impact on market development and customer success.

· The chance to work with a team that brings deep expertise across robotics, AI, and industrial automation.

· Competitive salary, employee equity, and bonuses.

· A dynamic international environment across Norway, the United States, Spain, and the broader EMEA region.

· A Barcelona-based role with flexibility to travel across Southern Europe.
