The Application Engineer IV will focus on complex wastewater and process water solutions across markets such as microelectronics, food & beverage, mining, power, pulp & paper, and chemical processing. The wastewater systems typically consist of equalization, pH neutralization, chemical precipitation, clarification, Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF), media filtration, ultra filtration, reverse osmosis, sludge thickening, and dewatering. The process water systems typically consist of media filtration, softening, carbon filtration, ultra filtration, reverse osmosis, Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems, regenerable Ion Exchange (IX), and Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI).
The Application Engineer IV operates independently determining proper design and approach for solving customer requirements and provides training and direction for other engineers.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

· Work primarily with the direct sales team
· Review RFQs and technical specifications
· Perform process design calculations
· Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
· Prepare mass balances and water balances
· Perform hydraulic calculations and pump sizing
· Equipment selection and material selection which can be used for costing
· Identify technical and commercial risks
· Develop conceptual, budgetary and firm proposals
· Present technical solutions to customers
· Support bid/no-bid and go/no-go decisions
· Train and mentor other engineers
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Requires BS/BA degree in Chemical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
· 8+ yrs of relevant experience
· Advanced knowledge of business tools, processes and procedures.
· Technical expert in understanding water treatment processes to achieve customer desired outcome.
· Advanced competency in all standard equipment platforms and their employment.
· Ability to source and apply advanced 3rd party components in new applications.
· Able to lead others in the execution of complex tasks and projects.
· Effectively collaborates with other disciplines in a team environment.
· Solid understanding of the sales process and how organizational role influences the outcome.
· Solid understanding of financial principles related to proposals, costing, business outcome and risk mitigation.
· Solid understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
· Advanced ability to develop execution strategy and guide others while mitigating business risk.
· Possesses excellent communications skills and can effectively present advanced technical information in a customer setting.
· Conducts training and seeks to motivate and develop the organization to achieve greater results.

Skills Required
- BS/BA degree in Chemical Engineering
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of relevant process/wastewater engineering experience
- Technical expertise in water and wastewater treatment processes (DAF, UF, RO, CIP, IX, CEDI, media filtration, softening, carbon filtration)
- Advanced competency with standard equipment platforms and ability to source/apply third-party components
- Process design skills including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and water balances, hydraulic calculations, and pump sizing
- Equipment and material selection for costing and proposal development
- Advanced knowledge of business tools, processes, procedures, and financial principles for proposals and costing
- Solid understanding of the sales process and ability to work with direct sales teams
- Solid understanding of contractual terms and conditions and ability to identify technical and commercial risks
- Ability to develop execution strategy, lead complex tasks/projects, and guide other engineers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for customer-facing technical presentations
- Experience training, mentoring, and developing other engineers
