Job Title: Application Engineer

Reports To: Application Engineering Manager

FLSA Status & EEO Code: Exempt & Professional

Division/Department: GHM / Sales

Level of Work: Level II

Position Summary: This position will run design programs independently, read customer specifications, read terms and conditions, provide support for service and equipment in the field, and will fill out O & D. 

Key Results Areas by level of work:  

Level II: Service – Coordinating “production” with problem solving and prevention

Resource management (material and people)

a. Take direction from senior engineer, supervisor, and/or manager.

b. Initiate interdepartmental communication.

Resource scheduling, output management and reporting

a. Work output is monitored and checked by senior engineers.

b. Engage in product requirements definition and reviews.

c. Handle calls from customers and provide a professional customer interface.

Continuous Improvement

a. Participate as reviewer in the design review process.

b. Identify, review, and develop product improvements.

c. Identify, review and implement process improvements.

Equipment & process maintenance

a. Plays an active role in product design/development including review of technical details, design for manufacture (cost effective and manufacturing process compliant) and design for test (efficient manufacturing test ensuring product quality).

b. Take part in sales proposal, service, or project process.

c. Works in a team environment with operations, estimators, designers, drafters, and/or sales representatives.

Professional Development

a. Will develop skills to explain to customers how Graham equipment works and how to troubleshoot.

b. Demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the job.

c. Will follow up with supervisor on professional development goals and opportunities.

d. Takes an interest and lets it be known that they have a desire to grow with the company.

Requirements

Qualifications:  

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required. 

Education and Training

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical preferred

Experience:  

· 0 to 2 years of on the job experience with an AA technical degree.

Other: 

· Must be willing to work overtime as required.

· International travel may be required.

· Travel up to 10% of working time.

Skills:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: 

1. Must have proficiency in MS office applications including spreadsheet, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software. 

2. Ability and willingness to abide by set policies and/or safety programs established by GHM, our clients, and/or regulatory agencies which govern our performance and behavior in the normal course of our work while on GHM or the client’s property or job site.

Physical and Mental Demands

· Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. Required to speak and communicate clearly with others.  

· Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.

· Work Environment: This job primarily operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is also exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise as well. 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to work in the U.S without sponsorship. Ability to obtain US government security clearance is desired.

Skills Required
