OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support for application systems development and maintenance projects, with a commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction.  Design, implement and maintain application systems.  Provide a general knowledge of the user function and work with the users and IT employees to develop systems solutions for difficult business problems.  Duties include Developer supervision, project leadership, technical design, programming, and testing. This position is based at our Corporate office in Brookfield, WI, with up to one day of remote work/week.

As an Application Development Manager, primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversees the work of a team responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting applications
  • Works to establish functional application requirements and reviews solutions to ensure organizational needs are met
  • Selects and oversees implementation of one or more application development methodologies.
  • Develops short- and long-term product roadmaps to ensure continuous improvement of applications
  • Develops enterprise-level applications and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
  • Provide a general functional knowledge, advanced systems design knowledge, and project leadership for application systems projects
  • Assist in the definition of user requirements and in the development of functional specifications
  • Develop high level technical specifications and detail program specifications
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all common application development software in use by the organization
  • Work with IT Management to manage Developer resources and workloads to ensure timely completion of IT projects. Provide coaching and training to grow Developer technical and functional expertise

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Senior Manager - Applications.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Information Systems.
  • At least six years of experience developing business applications
  • At least two years of leadership experience
  • Web-based application development experience, using tools such as SQL, PHP, HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience with ERP software packages such as INFOR, SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Manufacturing or Distribution industry experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
