Job Description:
Huntsman is seeking an Application Development Engineer supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in HATC, Texas. This position will report to the Sr. Technical Services Manager.
Job ScopeThe Application Development Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting advanced material solutions for applications in electrical power and electronics. This role partners closely with customers and internal teams to translate application requirements into tailored formulations and processing solutions. Based at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center (HATC), the position plays a critical role in enabling product adoption, supporting innovation, and driving technical excellence across key market segments.
In summary, as the Application Development Engineer, you will:- Provide technical support and processing guidance to optimize product performance across applications such as potting, encapsulation, casting, bonding, and electrical insulation.
- Translate customer requirements into material selection, formulation strategies, and processing recommendations.
- Develop and modify resin formulations (e.g., fillers, catalysts, additives, and stoichiometry) to achieve targeted performance characteristics such as thermal conductivity, dielectric strength, and mechanical properties.
- Lead customer trials, prototype development, and qualification programs to ensure successful product validation and commercialization.
- Troubleshoot material and processing challenges across laboratories, manufacturing, and customer environments.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, material characterization, and data analysis to support application development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Product Management, Quality, and Operations to support product development, scale-up, and lifecycle management.
- Deliver technical presentations, training sessions, and demonstrations to customers, internal stakeholders, and industry audiences.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including application notes, processing guidelines, and best practices.

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with thermoset materials, including epoxy and polyurethane systems.
- Strong knowledge of resin chemistry, formulation development, and structure-property relationships.
- Experience with material characterization and analytical techniques (e.g., DSC, TGA, viscosity, thermal conductivity, and mechanical testing).
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in processing, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Customer focus with the ability to understand and translate customer needs into actionable technical solutions.
- Strong technical expertise in thermoset materials and processing technologies.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across R&D, commercial, and operations teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
