Application Architect (On-site)

About You

You are an Application Architect who enjoys looking beyond individual components to understand how systems are designed, how technical decisions connect, and where potential risks or quality gaps may exist. You are comfortable reviewing code and technical solutions you did not build yourself, applying strong architectural judgment across distributed systems, microservices, cloud environments, security, and software quality.

You bring a critical and detail-oriented approach to technical work and use AI tools thoughtfully as part of your day-to-day workflow, knowing when they can accelerate your work and when human validation is essential. You are comfortable challenging assumptions, validating technical information against reliable documentation, and communicating complex findings clearly to both technical teams and executive stakeholders.

You work effectively with a high degree of autonomy, can coordinate across teams without formal authority, and maintain clarity and traceability while managing multiple priorities in changing environments.

Note: This role requires full-time on-site presence at the office.

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent demonstrable experience is desired.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, with 2+ years in technical leadership roles.
• Proven ability to read and critically evaluate code you did not write, with advanced proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Solid understanding of design patterns, distributed architectures, microservices-based solutions, cloud services and providers, security and networking, and software testing and code quality criteria.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools in your daily workflow, with sound judgment on what to delegate to AI and what requires manual verification.
• Experience building reusable templates or procedures for technical teams is desired.
• Ability to critically review AI-assisted technical material, cross-check it against reference documentation, and correct inaccuracies before circulation.
• Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to produce executive-facing material.
• Experience gathering and refining requirements and coordinating effectively with counterparts over whom you have no formal authority.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• High attention to detail, particularly with figures, dates, and commitments.
• Ability to manage multiple open workstreams while maintaining traceability and adapting to shifting priorities and scope.
• Genuine curiosity and a continuous learning mindset.
• Native Spanish and English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities

• Review code and technical material produced by third parties, applying criticality- and risk-based judgment.
• Critically assess AI-assisted technical output, validating it against reference documentation and correcting inaccuracies before it circulates.
• Apply AI tools to support technical analysis and documentation production, with clear criteria on what to delegate versus verify.
• Draft technical documentation and executive-facing material for stakeholders.
• Gather and refine technical requirements across teams.
• Coordinate with cross-functional counterparts outside your formal authority to align on technical decisions and deliverables.
• Document technical standards and build reusable assets for the broader team.

• 2+ years of Technical Leadership experience.
• Strong Application Architecture knowledge across distributed systems, microservices, cloud, and security.
• Proven ability to critically review existing code and third-party technical solutions.
• Hands-on use of AI tools for technical analysis, with strong validation and verification practices.
