The Opportunity:
The Appian Project Manager / Scrum Master will provide both delivery leadership and hands-on technical guidance for an Appian-based low-code development project for a Federal civilian customer. This hybrid role bridges functional business analysis and technical solution design, ensuring Appian solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with Federal security and governance standards. The ideal candidate combines strong Agile project management discipline with a working knowledge of Appian’s architecture, case management, data fabric, and integration best practices to effectively guide cross-functional delivery teams.

CACI supports a contract with a large Federal civilian customer to develop, maintain, and modernize business critical Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) systems built on SAP ERP technology. The Appian Project Manager/Scrum Master will lead a project to develop an Appian application that will interface with the existing COTS solution.  We are looking for an experienced Project Manager/Scrum Master who can effectively communicate and interface with development teams and government representatives. The individual must be able to work independently with little supervision, have good communication, organization, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead Appian project delivery from inception through deployment, managing Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and backlog prioritization.

  • Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Appian delivery teams, facilitating continuous improvement and velocity optimization.

  • Partner with Product Owners and Federal stakeholders to define business requirements, epics, and user stories aligned with mission outcomes.

  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of Appian platform capabilities – including Case Management Studio, Process Models, Records, and Integration Designer – to translate functional goals into feasible system designs.

  • Leverage deep knowledge of the Appian platform to drive process automation, workflow management, and application development

  • Review solution architectures, design documents, and sprint deliverables to ensure adherence to Appian best practices, performance standards, and FedRAMP security requirements.

  • Oversee configuration control, CDRL documentation, and release management in collaboration with DevSec Ops teams.

  • Coordinate integration planning between Appian applications and backend systems (e.g., SAP ECC, databases, REST APIs).

  • Monitor project risk, budget, and scope, ensuring compliance with contractual deliverables and Federal acquisition requirements.

  • Mentor Appian developers and business analysts, promoting consistent use of Agile metrics, user-story definition, and acceptance-criteria quality.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, presenting sprint reviews, dashboards, and performance metrics to PMO leadership, Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs), and agency executives.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • U.S. citizenship is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field.

  • 5 + years of Agile project management or Scrum Master experience, with 2 + years leading Appian projects.

  • Working knowledge of Appian design principles, case management features, data fabric modeling, and integration techniques.

  • Experience managing Agile delivery teams in a FedRAMP-authorized or other secure Federal cloud environment.

  • Familiarity with Appian’s low-code lifecycle, including version control, deployment, and performance tuning.

  • Proficiency in Jira / Confluence for Agile planning, backlog management, and documentation traceability.

  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, capable of engaging both technical teams and Federal business users.

  • Understanding of Federal IT governance (FISMA, ATO, NIST 800-53, or agency-specific frameworks).

Desired:

  • Appian Certified Associate or Senior Developer or Appian Certified Analyst.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMI-ACP credential.

  • Experience integrating Appian with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP ECC / S/4HANA,  ServiceNow).

  • Familiarity with Appian Government Cloud, Appian AI Copilot, and Appian RPA.

  • Experience managing multi-vendor Agile teams within Federal programs or IDIQ task orders.
