The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney is seeking two Attorney Assistants (TPA 1) to assist Appeals Bureau Assistant District Attorneys with post-conviction matters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain digital case files and mental hygiene tracking database.
- Process defense requests for hearing and trial exhibits and maintain exhibit database.
- Prepare and deliver documents for postal service mailing.
- Request and track down court transcripts.
- Obtain and file orders to produce.
- Provide clerical support to paralegals, including data entry, filing, and case management.
- Retrieve court and prosecution files.
- Assist paralegals in preparing court exhibits, discovery materials, and related documents.
- Help paralegals prepare court orders, motions, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- Maintain various Appeals Bureau databases and calendars.
- All other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.
- A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within and outside the five boroughs is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with court staff, agency staff, and external agency staff.
- Desire to contribute to the success of the Appeals professional staff team.
