About the Role & Team
IDC is building the next generation of AI-powered intelligence platforms that transform how technology decisions get made. Our platform re-imagines the way decision-makers discover and interact with trusted research and data, and is foundational to IDC's future.
We are looking for an API Engineer to join the Channel & Integration Pod. You will build the adapters, formatting layers, and supporting services that make the platform's API gateway work reliably across multiple integration channels. This is a growth role with visible impact: the services you build directly shape how external partners and collaboration tools interact with IDC's intelligence.
You will work alongside senior engineers on the pod, contributing to adapter development, schema validation, auth infrastructure, and the shared abstractions that keep the system consistent as new channels come online.
What You’ll Do
- Build API adapters between the gateway and internal data, search, and AI services
- Implement output formatting and citation packaging for different channel consumers
- Contribute to schema validation, rate limiting, and abuse control infrastructure
- Build and maintain auth infrastructure and audit logging
- Develop shared abstractions that work across multiple channel adapters
- Write tests and contribute to quality practices across the pod
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience building APIs or backend services in Python
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON schema, and HTTP fundamentals
- Familiarity with authentication patterns (OAuth, API keys)
- Proficiency with modern Python web frameworks
- Detail-oriented approach to API boundary correctness
- Comfort working in a fast-moving team where priorities evolve
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with agent-to-service protocols or developer platform APIs
- Background in wrapping or aggregating multiple backend services
- Experience with data formatting and transformation layers
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns
- Contributions to open-source API tooling
