The Manufacturing Director – APAC is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance and long-term development of Weir Minerals' manufacturing network across the Asia-Pacific region. The role leads multiple manufacturing facilities across Australia, Malaysia, China and India and is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, capital investment and organisational capability. The position drives manufacturing excellence through Lean, digital transformation, network optimization and strategic capital deployment to support regional growth and shareholder value creation.

What you’ll do

  • Manufacturing Strategy & Network Leadership: Develop and execute the APAC manufacturing strategy aligned with Division and Group growth objectives. Lead multiple manufacturing facilities across Australia, Malaysia, China, and India to deliver world-class performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction. Define and implement long-term manufacturing footprint, capacity, capability, and technology roadmaps to support growth and operational resilience. Success means achieving strategic objectives and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

  • Capital Investment & Manufacturing Expansion: Lead greenfield and brownfield manufacturing investments, including capital deployment and governance. Optimise manufacturing footprint to ensure capacity and competitiveness. Build capability through facility expansions, automation, and technology investments supporting future growth.

  • Operational Excellence: Direct manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost targets. Oversee production planning, asset utilization, and quality systems. Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, the Weir Production System (WPS), value engineering, and waste elimination. Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams to improve manufacturability and reduce product cost.

  • Financial & Commercial Performance: Own regional manufacturing budgets, capital expenditure programs, and operational performance targets. Drive cost competitiveness, productivity improvements, inventory optimisation, and return on invested capital.

  • Leadership & Organisational Capability: Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing manufacturing leadership team across the region. Build succession pipelines and organisational capability to support growth and transformation. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence aligned with Weir Group Values.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field

  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles

  • Strong expertise in Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production systems

Nice-to-haves:

  • MBA or advanced business qualification

  • Experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations across diverse geographies

  • Expertise in capital investment and manufacturing transformation initiatives

  • Strong commercial acumen with financial and operational performance management
