Role Purpose
The AML Compliance Officer has the responsibility of managing and maintaining the organization’s obligations as it relates to the supervision and reporting of money laundering activities.
Responsible for designing, evaluating, supporting, and influencing a culture of compliance throughout the organization, as well as assisting in the management and execution of an efficient compliance monitoring program.
Key Responsibilities
•Handle file reviews of suspicious activity to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures
•Ensure detailed and prompt investigation of all AML/CTF incidents and cases.
•Manage the resolution of cases through internal and external communications.
•Maintain a proper register of all incidents reported internally and externally.
•Develop written AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures that are kept up to date and approved by the Board;
•Have oversight of the AML/CFT/CPF compliance programme in line with the institution's identified risk and other emerging risks;
•Receive and vet suspicious (unusual) transaction/activity reports from the employees;
•Conduct regular risk assessments of the inherent ML/TF/PF risks including assessments of new products, services, new technologies, processes and business initiatives to identify potential ML/TF/PF risks and develop appropriate control mechanisms;
•File suspicious, Electronic Currency, Politically Exposed Persons, Cash Transaction Reports and other relevant regulatory reports with the BOG and FIC (where applicable);
•Ensure systems, resources, including fraud control management are in place to detect and report suspicious transactions and attempted transactions,
•Identify and inform of any changes to legislation and other regulatory requirements relating to AML/CTF.
•Ensure that ongoing training programmes on ML/TF/PF are current and relevant and are carried out for all employees, senior management and the Board;
•Submit at minimum four (4) reports to the Board and Senior Management regarding the adequacy of the AML/CFT/CPF framework or any associated issues; and
•Serve both as a liaison officer with the BOG and the FIC and a point-of-contact for all employees on issues relating to ML/TF/PF.
•Develop and participate in compliance programs and initiatives.
•Oversee the management and execution of second line monitoring and assessment program for Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT/CPF).
•Aid in the design, development, and implementation of a risk assessment framework to support all customer interactions.
•Assist with identifying any AML/CFT/CPF loopholes and coordinating projects to bridge those gaps.

Must have Technical / Professional Qualifications
• Degree in law or any business discipline.
• 7 years’ experience working in finance, compliance or legal ACAMS/ICA Certified

• Must be able to adapt to working in a demanding environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
