About the Role
We are looking for an experienced SME Anti-Fraud Manager to lead the identification, investigation, and prevention of fraud across our SME business.
Important: This is primarily a field and sales-related fraud role, not a traditional AML, transaction monitoring, or card-fraud position.
The successful candidate will investigate fraud involving Business Developers, agents, and merchants, including staff/merchant collusion, fraudulent merchant onboarding, fake businesses, manipulated loan applications, fabricated field activities, merchant deception, and other forms of sales-related misconduct.
Key Responsibilities
Lead field investigations into suspected merchant and sales staff fraud.
Investigate cases of BD/merchant collusion and staff misconduct.
Conduct merchant and field verification visits and investigative interviews.
Identify fraud patterns across BDs, merchants, markets, and locations.
Review evidence and prepare clear investigation reports with recommended actions.
Identify weaknesses in existing processes and develop practical fraud-prevention controls.
Work closely with Sales, Credit, Risk, Verification, Collections, and Operations teams to reduce fraud losses.
Train field teams on fraud red flags, prevention, and reporting.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
3-5 years of experience in fraud investigation, field verification, credit risk, SME lending, internal controls, collections, or related areas.
Experience in fintech, digital lending, banking, or microfinance is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of field sales, merchant acquisition, SME lending, and sales-force fraud.
Proven experience investigating fraud involving sales staff, agents, merchants, or field operations.
Strong analytical, investigative, communication, and report-writing skills.
Must be comfortable conducting field investigations and travelling when required.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Candidates whose experience is only in AML, KYC, transaction monitoring, card fraud, or account takeover without practical experience in field/merchant/sales-related fraud investigation may not be suitable for this role.
