Senior Product Applications Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an Application Engineer focused on Antenna Design to support customers and internal teams with the design, simulation, validation, and integration of antennas in advanced RF systems. This role bridges theory, practical antenna implementation, and customer engagement, helping translate system requirements into optimized antenna solutions for communications, radar, aerospace, defense, and emerging wireless applications.
The ideal candidate combines strong antenna fundamentals, hands‑on measurement experience, and the ability to communicate complex RF concepts clearly to customers and cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Antenna Design & Technical Support
- Design, simulate, and optimize antennas (PCB, embedded, patch, dipole, array, phased array) for a wide range of frequencies and applications.
- Support customers with antenna selection, placement, matching, tuning, and integration into RF systems.
- Provide expert guidance on antenna performance trade‑offs including bandwidth, efficiency, gain, polarization, isolation, and radiation patterns.
- Assist customers in diagnosing and resolving antenna‑related system issues such as mismatch, coupling, detuning, and EMC/EMI interactions.
Simulation, Measurement & Validation
- Use EM and RF simulation tools to model antenna structures and environments.
- Perform antenna measurements including S‑parameters, radiation patterns, efficiency, and gain using VNAs, anechoic chambers, and OTA setups.
- Correlate simulation results with measured data and recommend design improvements.
- Support system‑level validation including link budgets, MIMO performance, and phased‑array calibration.
Customer Engagement & Applications Support
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, answering application questions and providing design recommendations.
- Support customer evaluations, prototypes, and design‑ins.
- Deliver technical presentations, application notes, and reference designs focused on antenna integration and best practices.
- Collaborate with sales and field teams to support key customer engagements and design wins.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with IC designers, system architects, and product line teams to ensure antenna considerations are addressed early in product development.
- Provide feedback to product development teams based on customer needs and field experience.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and training related to antenna and RF system design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Electromagnetics, or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in antenna theory, electromagnetics, and RF/microwave design.
- Hands‑on experience with antenna measurements and RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator).
- Familiarity with antenna matching networks and RF front‑end integration.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both expert and non‑expert audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD with a focus on antennas or electromagnetics.
- Experience with phased arrays, beamforming, MIMO, or mmWave antennas.
- Proficiency with EM/RF simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, ADS, or similar.
- Experience supporting customer-facing applications or field engineering roles.
- Familiarity with wireless standards or applications (5G/6G, radar, satellite, aerospace & defense, IoT).
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Strong problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Customer‑focused, collaborative, and proactive.
- Comfortable working across disciplines and time zones.
- Ability to balance deep technical work with customer interaction.
