Job Description

The Platform Engineering Tribe:

We are the driving force behind Wise, making sure everything runs smoothly. We support our engineering teams so they innovate, build and ship great code quickly and confidently. Our expertise spans Data, Machine Learning, Incident and Risk Management, Hardware, and System Efficiency, all designed to foster an unparalleled Engineering Experience.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Analyst/Analytics Manager to join our Platform Engineering and Security team. This role will be pivotal in shaping how we use data to manage security and risk. You will build robust data pipelines that support continuous control monitoring and turn insights into strategic opportunities—all within Wise’s secure and compliant framework.

The completeness and effectiveness of our controls are critical to regulatory compliance. Your work will provide assurance that our security posture is clearly defined, well understood, and robust. You will both look at maintenance of existing controls, and ensuring their effectiveness vs working with teams to increase coverage

You will also manage 1-2 analysts and help define the data strategy for our Risk pillar, working closely with partners across the team.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Scale and improve our risk data infrastructure to enable our global teams to dissect metrics at granular levels to proactively identify and mitigate against drivers of risk.

  • Building out the metrics to monitor our controls and ensure that they are performing as required, as well as supporting control testing processes.

  • Establish control efficiency frameworks by analysing whether controls are effectively reducing risk while not adversely impacting growth.

  • Partner with product, engineering, product risk and compliance and other cross-functional stakeholders to influence decisions with data around global controls and risk.

  • Partner closely with Security / Cyber Security to ensure local and infra risk typologies are monitored and appropriately managed.

What will you be working on?

  • Control Requirements & Continuous Monitoring: Partner closely with control owners across security domains (such as Access Management, Vulnerability Management, Data Governance, etc.) to translate abstract compliance and testing requirements into concrete, measurable metrics, SLAs, and continuous monitoring dashboards.

  • Opportunity Sizing: Utilise data to identify opportunities for enhancing compliance processes, mitigating risks, and driving higher efficiency throughout the organisation

  • Last-Mile Delivery: Ensure dashboards and controls remain accurate, reliable, and useful after launch. Investigate data issues and missed SLAs, update queries where needed, and work with upstream data and programme owners to resolve gaps and improve data quality

  • Build and Optimise Pipelines: Develop, optimise, and maintain data pipelines using Python, REST APIs, DBT, and Airflow to ensure seamless data flow for compliance and risk management.

  • People Management: Manage and support one or two analysts working across the security and risk space, helping them develop while ensuring high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

Technical Expectations:

  • At least 6+ years of experience

  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with data visualization tools such as Looker, Superset, PowerBI, or Tableau

  • Experience in automation and building data pipelines and working with tools like DBT and Airflow for ETL processes.

  • Skilled in using REST APIs to develop and manage data integrations

  • Bonus: Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST), and the concept of continuous control monitoring (CCM).

Soft Skills:

  • Critical Thinking: Help stakeholders to define what to measure, ensuring the resulting data accurately reflects control operating effectiveness.

  • Influence: Excellent ability to build trust and influence across various teams, conveying complex concepts clearly to influence diverse stakeholders

  • Proactive Problem-Solver: Proactively identifies and implements solutions to improve data processes and analytics

  • People Management Has some experience in leading 1-2 analysts

Why Should You Join Our Team?

  • Data-Driven Impact: You'll have the opportunity to redefine how we approach compliance and risk within the organization, leveraging data to highlight areas for improvement and efficiency.

  • Growth and Innovation: Experiment with cutting-edge technology and methodologies in data analytics and engineering, pushing boundaries in various domains.

  • Supportive Environment: Enjoy a healthy balance of independence and collaboration, backed by a team of dedicated experts across domains for when you need support.
