About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

Base runs on data. Every battery we deploy, every home we power, and every operational decision we make depends on reliable information.

As an Analytics Engineer at Base, you will build the data systems that allow the company to operate. You will define how operational data is modeled, transformed, and used across the business. Your work will power decisions across deployments, supply chain, manufacturing, hardware engineering, grid operations, and go-to-market.

This is a technical leadership role. You will work across teams to define how data should be structured, trusted, and used. You will build the systems that make that possible.

This role is not about dashboards. It is about building the foundation that allows Base to run a modern power company.

Note: This is not a Data Analyst position.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a deep understanding of how Base operates across deployments, supply chain, manufacturing, and business operations.

  • Design the core data models that describe how the business works and how it should be measured.

  • Build and maintain the pipelines that transform raw operational data into reliable analytical systems.

  • Work directly with engineers, operators, and leadership to turn complex business questions into data systems that produce clear answers.

  • Develop internal tools and data applications that help teams make faster, better decisions.

  • Define standards for data quality, monitoring, and documentation across the analytics stack.

  • Identify operational problems where better data systems can unlock meaningful improvements.

  • Raise the bar for analytics engineering at Base through strong technical judgment, clear thinking, and high quality execution.

  • Serve as a trusted technical partner to leaders across the company.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in a software or data engineering role such as Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or Software Engineer.

  • Expert SQL skills and strong programming experience in Python or another general purpose language.

  • Experience building production data systems using tools such as dbt, modern data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Temporal), and BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Omni).

  • Strong experience designing scalable data models that support real operational workflows.

  • Comfort operating with high ownership and minimal process.

  • Ability to work directly with both engineers and business leaders to translate problems into technical systems.

  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to make pragmatic architecture decisions in fast-moving environments.

  • A track record of building systems that other teams depend on.

About This Team

America's power grid is failing—electricity costs have risen even as generation gets cheaper, and blackouts are becoming more common. We're building the software that fixes it. Our team owns the entire stack: firmware that controls batteries in thousands of homes, trading algorithms that buy and sell power in real-time markets, distributed commanding systems that orchestrate a growing fleet as a single grid asset, factory software for our Austin manufacturing line, and the product experience that makes it all invisible to homeowners. If you want to write code that physically moves electrons, ships hardware, and reshapes critical infrastructure, this is the job.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
