Context
We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform engineering team, reporting to our Director of Engineering, and contribute to the development of our Shift cloud platform product with a multi-tenant, multi-region strategy. You will contribute to the foundational build-out, establishing the core services that manage tenant lifecycle, identity, governance, and security across the entire platform and the corresponding management console web application.
Responsibilities
Design & build the entire multi-tenant services stack on AWS, focusing on the separation of the Control and Tenant planes.
Implement our Tenant Orchestrator and Directory services, automating the workflow to create new organizations and vend dedicated AWS accounts, including baseline infrastructure setup and disaster recovery bootstrapping.
Build the core Identity & Authorization services (Identity, Membership, Groups, SCIM Provisioning Connector, Policy Service) to manage SSO/IAM, group-based access (RBAC), and consistent policy enforcement via shared modules.
Establish the operational readinessand reliability primitives for all core platform services, including the Audit Log, ensuring every system event is captured from day 1.
Define and secure the API Gateway layer to enforce external and internal communication standards.
Requirements for the role
Identity & Access: 2+ years of experience implementing and maintaining modern SSO/IAM and SCIM provisioning systems.
Development: Proven expertise in Python, specifically building production-ready services with frameworks like FastAPI.
Platform Security: Demonstrated ability to secure application and API Gateway layers in a public cloud, microservices environment.
Containerization: Experience with containerizing services (Docker) and deploying to Kubernetes (EKS).
Web Development: Experience with building user management web applications in Typescript (Vue 3, React, Tailwind are a plus)
