An Analytics Engineer bridges the gap between data engineering and data analysis, enabling the organisation to make data-driven decisions. They are responsible for designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines that transform raw data into a usable form for analysis. They work closely with data analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, consistency and availability.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for data processing
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and ETL tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Talend)
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases
- Experience with data modeling and schema design
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their data services
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards
- Experience with real-time data processing frameworks like Apache Kafka or Spark
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Data Pipeline Development:
- Design, implement and optimise scalable data pipelines to ingest, clean and transform data from various sources
- Ensure the reliability and performance of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
Data Modelling:
- Implement data validation and testing frameworks to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Monitor and resolve data quality issues and discrepancies
Tooling and Automation:
- Build and maintain automation tools to streamline data processing and reporting
- Stay updated with the latest data engineering and analytics tools and integrate them into the organisation’s tech stack when beneficial
Documentation and Governance:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models and data workflows
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices for data security and privacy
