The Work

The Analyst, Treasury supports the execution and control of a broad range of Treasury activities. The role contributes to the Bank's daily cash and liquidity management, investment and funding operations, nominee broker deposit issuances, Guaranteed Investment Certificate administration, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and ad hoc analysis. The position works with internal and external partners to maintain accurate, timely, and resilient Treasury operations while supporting process improvements and strategic enterprise initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

    •  Support the Bank’s daily cash and liquidity management, including short-term liquidity planning and investment recommendations. 

    •  Execute daily investment and funding activities in accordance with established policies and limits, and monitor cash flows, settlements, and liquidity requirements. 

    •  Manage day-to-day cash and investment operations in collaboration with stakeholders to keep the Bank within applicable risk limits. 

    •  Perform daily Guaranteed Investment Certificate operational activities, including origination monitoring, pricing updates, journal entries, and month-end and quarter-end processes. 

    •  Reconcile and book month-end and quarter-end entries and promptly resolve identified differences. 

    •  Support nominee broker deposit issuances and related operational processes, including providing prompt service and support. 

    •  Prepare, reconcile and enhance recurring regulatory reporting in order to maintain accurate records and adequate documentation. 

    •  Maintain effective controls and contribute to resilient Treasury operations. 

    •  Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements that simplify operations and improve the quality, efficiency, and reliability of outputs. 

    •  Provide back-up coverage for Treasury processes performed by other team members. 

    •  Complete ad hoc analyses and support Treasury initiatives as required. 

Let's Talk About You

    •  Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, or another relevant discipline. 

    •  Relevant experience in banking, treasury, finance operations, accounting, or a comparable quantitative environment. 

    •  Knowledge of banking products, including loans and deposits, and an understanding of how these products affect a financial institution's balance sheet. 

    •  Working knowledge of cash management, investment operations, reconciliations, and financial controls. 

    •  Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with reconciliations and financial data. 

    •  Comfort working with data using tools such as SQL or SAS. 

    •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a quantitative fast moving environment. 

    •  Strong attention to detail, personal accountability, and the ability to work independently . 

    •  Ability to review, simplify, and improve operational processes. 

    •  Strong collaboration and relationship-management skills with internal and external partners. 

    •  Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill analysis into actionablee findings. 

    •  Experience in an institution regulated by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions is an asset. 

    •  Experience with Bloomberg, CANNEX, or Portfolio+ is an asset. 

    •  Working knowledge of funding, trading, liquidity risk management, market risk management, or fixed-income valuation and pricing is an asset. 

    •  Commitment to continuous learning and a willingness to provide support across a broad range of Treasury activities.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from EQ Bank’s additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
