What you’ll be doing:
As an Analyst, Relationship Manager – Japanese Corporates, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your ability to foster strong connections with clients is paramount. Your day-to-day activities will involve supporting senior relationship managers in delivering exceptional service to Japanese corporate clients operating in Australia.
Support senior relationship managers in managing and expanding relationships with Japanese corporate clients by maintaining regular communication and follow-ups.
Assist with account management responsibilities including monitoring revenue targets, balance sheets, and acting as the first point of contact for client inquiries across various markets and products.
Facilitate client onboarding processes such as account opening, documentation preparation, and operational coordination to ensure seamless experiences for new customers.
Collaborate with sector heads and other business units—including transaction banking, global markets, portfolio management, risk/compliance, operations, legal, and product teams—to identify business opportunities and deliver comprehensive solutions.
Conduct market research by collecting and analysing trends, regulatory updates, competitor information, and economic data to inform sector strategies and support business development initiatives.
Participate in deal origination activities by preparing proposals, presentations, pitches, and administrative materials to maximise business growth opportunities.
Monitor client portfolios proactively by suggesting adjustments based on market conditions and client objectives while supporting credit analysis efforts focused on quality monitoring.
Ensure adherence to policy governance frameworks by maintaining operational risk controls and complying with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Coordinate cross-functional meetings to address complex client needs or resolve issues efficiently through effective teamwork with internal stakeholders.
Undertake ad-hoc tasks as required to support evolving business needs while contributing positively to the overall success of the team.
What we are looking for:
To excel in this role, you will bring a robust academic background complemented by an interest in gaining further hands-on experience interpreting financial data within corporate banking settings.
A degree in Business, Commerce, Law or Accounting from a leading university is essential for this position as it underpins your understanding of financial principles relevant to corporate banking.
Demonstrated proficiency in financial analysis supported by solid mathematical knowledge enables you to interpret data effectively when assessing market trends or evaluating client portfolios.
Advanced skills using Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and PowerPoint—as well as familiarity with Tableau are crucial for preparing reports or presentations that inform decision-making processes.
Exceptional interpersonal abilities allow you to build rapport quickly with clients while fostering positive relationships within cross-functional teams across the organisation’s network.
Clear written and verbal communication skills combined with high presentational capabilities ensure you can convey complex information succinctly during meetings or when liaising between stakeholders.
Possess additional language skills (such as Japanese), this will further enhance your effectiveness when engaging directly with international clients
Experience conducting independent research into customer profiles or market developments demonstrates your critical thinking skills alongside meticulous attention to detail when compiling insights for strategy development.
