Job Description
Team Description
The Portfolio Strategy Group is part of the Private Equity (PE) department at CPP Investments. PE manages $140 billion of net assets and is responsible for the firm’s private equity investments globally, excluding LATAM. By investing in funds, secondaries, growth equity and directly in private equity, we seek opportunities to build a global, diversified portfolio that will outperform comparable passive public alternatives over the long term. The Portfolio Strategy group within PE seeks to enhance the risk-adjusted returns of the portfolio through portfolio construction techniques that enable the department to meet the targeted return and maximize alpha while balancing investing and developing strong long-term value-add partnerships to the total Fund.
Accountabilities
- Assist with bespoke financial analysis to support strategic portfolio construction decisions
- Assist in net capital management forecasting and allocation, over the short and long term
- Assist with the analysis of PE’s portfolio and research on private equity industry trends
- Assist in the development of a relative value framework within PE to improve the effectiveness with which PE delivers a global portfolio
- Partner with other departments at CPP Investments (e.g. Total Fund Management, Office of the Chief Investment Officer (OCIO), Finance, Risk, Sustainability etc.) to advance strategic initiatives, enhance integration of bottom-up and top-down decision making and improve reporting
- Support drafting of committee and Board level communications, as required
- Support the Global SMD of Private Equity, as required
- Opportunity to take a key role in helping shape critical PE tech enablement tools, subject to interest
Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of relevant work experience (private equity, investment banking, management consulting, etc.)
- University degree in related field
- Understanding of private equity concepts
- Excellent model, analytic and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated intellectual curiosity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an interest in working in a dynamic collaborative environment
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Demonstrated proactive and team-oriented mindset
