The Opportunity:

The Operational Due Diligence team is responsible for performing comprehensive reviews of accounting, operations, compliance, and information technology aspects of the private market fund investment managers that the firm is considering for client portfolios.
 

As an Analyst on this team, you will perform operational due diligence reviews of private equity, venture, and real-asset investment managers prior to investment committee approval. You will also perform ongoing due diligence. Close collaboration and teamwork are critical to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of operational due diligence reports.  

Your responsibilities will be to:  

  • Prepare for and conduct in-depth, on-site due diligence meetings with investment managers’ senior back-office executives (e.g., CFOs, COOs, CCOs, CISOs) to identify, discuss, and mitigate operational-related risks
  • Evaluate the overall quality of infrastructure, systems, controls, and personnel to identify issues relevant to the overall investment committee decision
  • Prepare detailed reports containing comprehensive information and analysis related to the operational environment of potential investment managers
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of investments, including analyzing fund financial statements and investment activity to ensure compliance with partnership agreements
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of investment managers’ regulatory filings and other publicly available information
  • Support general business development and client-related activities, as requested, particularly with respect to information on operational due diligence
  • Stay informed of market developments, industry trends, and regulatory matters that could impact the private market industry
  • Develop market intelligence and industry best practices by liaising with investment managers, fund administrators, and other service providers to identify possible process enhancement

Your background will include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, and a CPA or CFA preferred
  • 0-5 years of experience, with exposure to the private equity industry
  • Background in analyzing operational risks within private equity funds or relevant experience (e.g., audit or fund administration) 
  • Dynamic, intelligent, hard-working, self-starter attributes, along with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Familiarity with back-office operations and systems
  • Understanding of risk management methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong analytical skills, with an interest and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be able to operate in a high-pressure environment
  • Flexibility to travel up to 5% of the time
