The FORTNA Leadership and Development Rotation (LADR) Program is a 1-year, rotational program committed to the accelerated development of entry-level Professional Services and Engineering talent with a passion for technology, automation, and professional services coupled with a drive for exceptional client service. Through intense training and a variety of business-critical assignments, technical and business skills are developed. LADR graduates have the technical and business foundation to make innovative contributions that help our clients be successful in a dynamic world. The program consists of the following functions: Operations, Commercial, Engineering, IT, Finance, and Software Development. Program members are full-time Fortna Associates and work in rotational assignments to accelerate their development and assimilation into the business.

Commercial Function
Commercial Function Overview
The commercial function rotation explores different aspects of the business, from the more sales focused roles to the more technical roles in mechanical engineering and data analytics. People with business backgrounds and studies are a good fit for sales focused roles and people with engineering backgrounds are a good fit for projects focused roles. The one-year program includes rotation in most relevant roles and experiences.
Account Manager Rotation
To understand the sales process. From the initial research and leads identification with Business Development, through the activities of Account Executives to engage with qualified leads, and all the way to the Technical Executives engagements and SOW formulation.
- Conduct a market research or similar project as part of the business development and marketing experiences.
- Work with an account executive building a proposal for a project, whether it is a design project or an implementation one.
- Attend multiple customer meetings during the time shadowing an Account Executive or a Technical Executive. Support the team with meeting notes and the execution of some action items.
- Support the development of commercial documents, whether it is a Statement of Work (SOW) or Preliminary Functional Specification Document (PFSD).
- Update records of accounts and opportunities in FORTNA’s CRM platform.
Solution Design Consultant Rotation
To understand the consulting engagements. Ideally an Ops Design, but could be other projects like strategy, assessment or IDD. Going through all the steps of the project such as data, requirements, concept hypothesis formulation, solution refinement, estimation and final presentation.
- Participate in one project led by the Solution Design department. Each project type has different methodology and artifacts. For an Operations Design project:
- Data validation and analysis
- Requirements gathering and validation
- Concept hypothesis (Solution Design Workshop)
- Concept Refinement (FTE, DOO)
- Estimation and Final Presentation
- Attend a week or two of IDD sessions and support the team with production of artifacts and documentation of meetings.
- Support a departmental continuous improvement initiative.
- Spend a week on site with a team for a current state review or go-live preparation activities.
Solution Architect & Concept Realization Rotation
To experience the more technical aspects of the Commercial department, such as the solution architect and the technical design engineer, as well as implementation planning and estimation.
Understand tools such as DCDesigner or Demo3D, as well as DCEstimator and project scheduling
- Participate in a Solution Design Workshop meeting and support the development of analyses, research and deliverables.
- Research equipment and technologies applicable to the project being supported.
- Size and design a subsystem or portion of the overall solution, using tools like Demo3D, DCDesigner or others depending on the solution.
- Support the development of the budget estimate for a project, learning how to use DCEstimator a providing support to the lead estimator.
Data Analyst Rotation
To understand the data modelling and analysis process, from raw data provided by the customer, and then modified by the data team to produce insightful reports and analyses to be used by the design teams.
- Participate in at least one data gathering call with the customer, and provide clear guidance on the structure of the data required by FORTNA.
- Produce a data acceptance report, with insights derived by the raw data prior to running the proprietary queries.
- Use DCModeler to produce a profiling report in PowerBI.
- Attend other trainings in SQL, PowerBI and DCModeler.
