Role Summary:

This role reports into the Director, Operational Technology and sits within the Operational Technology team, which keeps technology running and secure across Oxford's managed properties. The team looks after building and property systems, network and device infrastructure, cybersecurity hygiene, vendor platforms, and the day-to-day service support that keeps sites operating.

This is an early career opportunity for someone curious and hands on who enjoys variety and wants exposure across several areas of technology before specializing. You will work closely with experienced engineers and analysts, own the pieces of work assigned to you, and build practical skills across security, infrastructure, automation, and service operations. You will be set up with guidance, training, and direct access to the people doing the work.

You will be responsible for:

  • Build and improve internal tools, dashboards, and automation scripts in Python or JavaScript, working alongside senior team members to take requests from idea to working solution.

  • Support cybersecurity operations, including tracking vulnerability remediation with platform owners, gathering evidence for annual assessments, and helping keep security documentation current.

  • Configure, test, and document operational technology platforms and integrations, and validate that changes work as expected before they reach the field.

  • Help improve service operations by reviewing ticket workflows, maintaining process documentation, and supporting the ticketing platforms used by the property technology and service desk teams.

  • Provide hands on support during property acquisitions, transitions, and onboarding, including device setup, system access, site readiness checks, and follow up after go live.

  • Research issues, document findings, and contribute to knowledge bases, operating model documentation, and practical team reference materials.

  • Take part in team reviews, incident response tabletop exercises, testing cycles, and projects that run across the security, infrastructure, and operations groups.

This is a Toronto based role. Because operational technology work happens where the systems live, the role includes time on site at Oxford properties locations as well as in the office at 100 Adelaide.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A genuine interest in technology backed by practical exposure, whether through school or personal projects, co-op or internship work, or previous roles in IT, cybersecurity, infrastructure, automation, or service operations.

  • Ability to learn new tools and concepts quickly and apply that learning to practical work.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, ask good questions, and follow through on assigned work.

  • Comfort working across multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings clearly and concisely.

  • Comfortable working in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint, and able to pick up unfamiliar business systems quickly.

  • Basic exposure to scripting, automation, data analysis, platform configuration, or technical troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, SQL, APIs, dashboards, or workflow automation.

  • Exposure to ServiceNow, Qualys, cloud platforms, endpoint management, networking, or operational technology environments.

  • Experience supporting technology projects, testing activities, documentation, or process improvement initiatives.

  • Interest in real estate technology, cybersecurity, technology operations, or enterprise service delivery.

  • Post-secondary education, co-op experience, certification, or equivalent practical experience in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, data, engineering, or a related discipline.

We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

OMERS Compensation & Benefits Highlights

The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about OMERS and has not been reviewed or approved by OMERS.

  • Retirement Support Retirement benefits are positioned as a standout part of total rewards, anchored by a defined benefit pension that provides predictable lifetime income and includes survivor, disability, bridge, and inflation-protection features. The plan is often treated as materially more valuable than typical RRSP matching, despite requiring employee contributions.
  • Fair & Transparent Compensation Compensation is frequently characterized as fair or well-paid in certain roles, and the overall package is sometimes framed as “excellent compensation” when pay and benefits are considered together. Pay competitiveness appears strongest in investment-focused groups and in higher-cost markets.
  • Wellbeing & Lifestyle Benefits Non-pension benefits are described as strong in areas like wellness and mental health support, alongside lifestyle allowances and paid-time-off features. These elements add perceived value beyond base salary and bonus.
