The Role

Position Overview

The Insurance & Risk Management Analyst plays a critical role in protecting the organization by overseeing insurance-related contract review and managing the full lifecycle of commercial insurance claims. This role partners closely with Legal, Risk Management, and internal business stakeholders to ensure contractual insurance provisions align with organizational risk tolerance and that claims are handled efficiently, consistently, and proactively from initiation through resolution.

The ideal candidate brings strong commercial insurance contract review experience, hands-on claims management expertise, and the ability to design and continuously improve claims processes.

Key Responsibilities

Insurance Contract Review & Risk Assessment

  • Review, analyze, and redline insurance and risk-related provisions in contracts, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, leases, construction agreements, and development-related documents.
  • Ensure contractual insurance requirements are compliant with internal standards, insurance program structure, and risk management objectives.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or heightened risk exposures in contractual language and recommend mitigations or alternative solutions.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Procurement, Real Estate, Development, and Operations teams to resolve insurance-related contract issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial insurance requirements and contractual risk transfer strategies.

Claims Management & Process Ownership

  • Manage the end-to-end insurance claims process, including claim intake, investigation, documentation, carrier coordination, and resolution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers, and third-party administrators throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Develop, document, and implement standardized claims management processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Monitor claim status, timelines, and outcomes to ensure timely reporting and resolution.
  • Identify trends, recurring issues, or risk drivers through claims data and recommend process or coverage improvements.

Program & Stakeholder Support

  • Maintain accurate records of claims, policies, and insurance documentation.
  • Support broker and carrier relationships by providing claim data, loss histories, and exposure information as needed.
  • Assist with internal education and guidance related to insurance requirements, claims procedures, and risk mitigation best practices.
  • Stay current on industry trends, insurance products, and regulatory considerations impacting commercial insurance and risk management.
    Why This Role Matters

This role is central to reducing organizational risk, ensuring contractual protections are in place, and delivering a structured, proactive approach to claims management. The successful candidate will not only manage today’s needs but also help build scalable processes that support long-term growth.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
    • 3+ years of experience in commercial insurance, risk management, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience reviewing insurance provisions in contracts (vendor, customer, real estate, construction, or development agreements).
    • Hands-on experience managing insurance claims, including coordination with brokers and carriers.
    • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages (e.g., general liability, property, workers’ compensation, professional liability).
    • Ability to interpret complex contractual and insurance language and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience developing or improving claims management processes.
    • Experience working in environments with complex contracts (real estate, construction, technology, infrastructure, or large commercial operations).
    • Professional designations such as ARM, CRIS, or CPCU.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • High attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
