Primary Purpose of the position: The Scrum Master responsibilities include ensuring that development teams follow scrum framework values and agile practices, mentoring and motivating the teams to improve processes, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, update tools & systems, trackers, enable continuous improvement and eliminating team impediments. In addition, this role acts as the India-based Proxy Product Owner, partnering closely with the US-based Product Owner to provide day-to-day backlog direction, requirement clarification, and delivery decisions for the India delivery team, while ensuring strong alignment between business objectives and execution outcomes.
Skills, Competencies, Experience and Responsibilities: • Certified Scrum Master with working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks (such as Scrum or Kanban) to deliver solutions. Understanding related values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions. • Scheduling and facilitating all Scrum Ceremonies (Daily scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Backlog Grooming and Retrospectives), meetings, and decision-making processes. • Work closely with Product Owners to ensure backlog clarity, user stories review, prioritization, and alignment with business goals. • Training, mentoring and supporting scrum teams to follow agile values, principles, and practices. • Identify and remove impediments to the team's progress, escalating issues when necessary. • Monitoring team progress and metrics to support team performance and aid in identifying areas of improvement. • Good insights into various quality and performance metrics, related charts and reports and present them to teams and stakeholders. • Planning and organizing demos, team building activities. • Tracking project processes and deliverables.• Ensure transparency in the team's work and maintain alignment with business goals. • Promote culture of ownership, accountability, and self-organization within the team. • Collaborate with business stakeholders, leadership, and clients to understand requirements, priorities, and product vision. • Act as the primary day-to-day Proxy Product Owner for the India delivery team, translating product priorities into clear, actionable backlog items within India working hours. • Partner closely with the Product Owner to maintain backlog clarity, sequencing, and readiness, and to ensure continuous flow of work across time zones. • Own, manage, and refine the Product Backlog, ensuring clarity, transparency, and alignment with business goals. • Write, refine, and maintain user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria. • Provide timely clarification to the delivery team on requirements, priorities, dependencies, and acceptance criteria, escalating strategic or conflicting decisions to the Product Owner when needed. • Ensure backlog items are well-defined, estimated, and ready for Sprint Planning. • Prioritize backlog items based on business value, risk, dependencies, and stakeholder needs within agreed decision guardrails. • Define and communicate Sprint Goals, product vision, and roadmap to the Scrum Team. • Review sprint deliverables against agreed acceptance criteria and coordinate acceptance decisions with the Product Owner. • Serve as the primary coordination bridge between the Product Owner and delivery team, ensuring decisions, priorities, and feedback are communicated clearly and promptly. • Stakeholder management: Balance stakeholder expectations while safeguarding product quality and value. • Continuously evaluate delivered outcomes using metrics, feedback, and insights to maximize ROI. • Partner closely with the Scrum Team to ensure smooth execution of Agile practices and continuous delivery. Required Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Lead, Proxy Product Owner, or similar role. • Proven track record of leading Agile delivery in complex environments. • Ability to coach and mentor teams with varying levels of Agile maturity. • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, and cross time-zone collaboration skills. • Hands-on experience with backlog ownership, user story refinement, acceptance criteria definition, and sprint readiness. • Experience working as a liaison between business stakeholders or Product Owners and offshore or geographically distributed delivery teams.
Preferred Qualifications: • Having prior experience in Project Management, Business Analysis or Quality Assurance • Certifications such as CSM, PMI-ACP, PSM, PSPO I and II, SAFe • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Workday • Experience with any online scrum framework platform or agile tools like Azure DevOps, Jira or similar • Ability to manage multiple teams or projects simultaneously • Knowledge of Power automation or Power BI reporting • Experience working with globally distributed teams
