Job Description

  • To contribute to developing, building, and managing the Structured Finance (‘SF’) lending activity for Shawbrook and achieve targeted levels of profitability, return on capital and origination
  • To support the structuring and execution of leveraged finance and growth capital transactions
  • To achieve a high level of credit quality and operate to high standards of risk management generally, including operational and reputational as well as credit risk

Deal Execution
To support the execution of Untranche, ARR and Venture Debt facilities i.e., the acquisition and growth of UK SME companies by Private Equity firms and Investors. Analyse the business and financial performance of prospective customers and ensure debt structures are appropriate to meet their needs. Identify, minimise, and mitigate risks. Contributing to the end-to-end credit process, including due diligence review, financial modelling, writing of credit papers and presentation to Credit.

Origination
To actively support ongoing relationships with a variety of clients (sponsors, investors) and intermediaries. Contribute to origination efforts with a focus on the venture debt market, including participation in client and intermediary meetings, preparation of pitches, and attendance at market events and conferences.

Stakeholder Management
To support transactions and liaise effectively to the other parts of the Shawbrook group who play their part in the
Financial Sponsors output, including Operations, Credit, Finance and Corporate Banking.

Regulatory and Compliance
To report all issues of regulatory concern to the Operations Director / Bank Legal & Compliance Director. To communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner. To provide support in managing the overall compliance and risk management framework of SF

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent work experience appropriate to the role
  • Proven experience in structuring and executing transactions and risk management. Compliance and governance experience would be considered a positive
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with financial models and good understanding of financial statements is beneficial
  • Industry knowledge in the general finance market desirable but not essential, including a good understanding of lending practices and credit processes
  • Strong customer service, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Good commercial, financial acumen, and capability in strategic thinking
  • Some knowledge of leveraged finance structures desirable but not essential
  • Confident, ambitious, and good team working skills combined with being able to interact within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport to engage employees and gain support of peers
  • Influencing skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Support the development of a strong balanced and effective team by conveying clearly goals and expectations
  • High levels of drive, energy, and personal commitment to success
  • Ability to package and present ideas in a persuasive manner
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrate sound business judgement
  •  Results-orientated, holds self-accountable
  • Able to commute reliably to office base and accommodate home working as required
  • Able to work extended hours on occasions when required
