Analyst, Data Quality & Governance

As the Analyst, Data Quality & Governance, you will collaborate with data owners, stewards, and custodians across our organization to ensure that the content, structure, and context of all data assets and related data lineage is clear and understood. As the Analyst, Data Quality & Governance, you will report to the Manager, Data Assets and Standards and will collaborate with data owners, stewards, and custodians across the organization to ensure data assets are trusted, discoverable, well-documented, and fit for purpose across reporting, analytics, automation, and AI use cases. You will help establish the metadata, lineage, business context, and governance controls required to make enterprise data assets usable by both people and AI systems.

In addition to managing data assets, you will leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to scale governance activities, improve metadata quality, accelerate documentation, and enhance data discovery. You will also contribute to the development of AI-powered governance capabilities such as intelligent assistants, agents, and automated workflows that improve access to trusted enterprise data.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist in the implementation of relevant data governance policies and work closely with data stewards to enforce standards for data assets. 
  • Enhance data cataloguing and metadata practices ensuring datasets are properly structured, classified, governed, and discoverable to support analytics, automation, AI agents, and generative AI solutions. 
  • Complete and up to date data catalogue available for data discovery and data management.
  • Supports AI readiness by ensuring data assets is governed, trusted, and readily usable for advanced analytics and automation.
  • Trusted and well-governed data assets that can be confidently consumed by users, applications, analytics platforms, and AI solutions.
  • Establish lineage across systems to allow visibility of data flow across systems for stronger data governance controls.
  • Monitor and track usage of data assets to understand and report on patterns and trends.
  • Efficient use of data by stakeholders to minimize burden of data collection and maximize insights development.
  • Enhanced user experience and self-service access to governed data through AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Generate reports on data asset utilization and identify opportunities to optimize usage.
  • Design and maintain AI-powered governance solutions, including agents, copilots, and automated workflows that improve data discovery, knowledge sharing, and access to trusted data assets.
  • Manage and maintain reference data sets in informatica as a central source of truth to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for reference data standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with data stewards to update and validate reference data regularly and resolve any data issues.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive business glossary and semantic layer that supports consistent business understanding by users, analytics platforms, and AI systems. 
  • Collaborate with business units and subject matter experts to define and document business terms.
  • Leverage AI and automation capabilities to streamline data governance processes including metadata generation, documentation, data classification, lineage analysis, issue triage, and business glossary maintenance.
  • Increased governance efficiency through intelligent automation and reduced manual effort. 

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's in a relevant field (e.g., data management, information technology, business analytics, informatics).
  • Proven experience and understanding of data governance, with a focus on metadata, reference and master data.
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Experience using ai-enabled productivity and analytics tools to improve efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and generate insights.
  • Familiarity with ai concepts such as large language models (llms), retrieval-augmented generation (rag), ai agents, semantic models, vector search, and knowledge management.
  • Experience developing prompts, workflows, copilots, agents, or other ai-enabled solutions is considered an asset.
  • Applied experience in data governance, particularly in data quality management.
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality practices.
  • Familiar with implementation and use various data governance tools and software.
  • Familiar with DMBOK principles.
  • Understand of complete data lifecycle and related data governance requirements.
  • Understanding of GDPR and related legislation.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and transform large datasets to understand trends and patterns.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms. MS Azure preferred (Microsoft Synapse, Azure Data factory, Azure Data Lake, PowerBI).
  • Proficient in SQL or other programming languages.
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Expert in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

AI & Automation Skills

  • Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI principles, and AI-ready data practices.
  • Experience using generative AI and copilots for business and data management activities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI services, AI agents, and workflow automation tools.
  • Understanding of knowledge management, semantic models, vectorized content, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts.
  • Ability to identify opportunities where AI can improve governance, stewardship, and data management processes.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 CAD

This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week at our temporary 20 York Mills Road, Toronto, Ontario location with travel, as needed, to our the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
